What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
Teachers and tutors have had such a big impact on my life, and therefore, I understand the difference that a good tutor can make. I want to be able to make that same positive change for kids that I have had to me. As such, my main reason for applying to tutoring is to take care of kids, both academically but also emotionally.My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
My strengths as a tutor are definitely my ability to connect with people. Even though I am proficient in my academics, I feel like in order to convey that knowledge to kids, you must first have good speaking skills to get them to listen.Most important things I can do for a student π
The best thing a tutor can do for their student is to properly listen to them. A tutor or academic mentor can do so much more than just spew out a lesson plan; they can listen to the students' concerns, whether that's about the subject or their general emotions. Once their queries are eliminated, students can enter the right headspace to focus on learning.Tutoring students in π¦ π§

Lee brings a strong academic background, having consistently achieved results in the top 10% range across his schooling. He excelled particularly in Maths Methods and was recognised with an academic excellence award earlier in high school. Lee has been a tutoring student himself for many years, so he understands both sides of the learning process and can clearly explain concepts in ways that make sense to primary and high school students. He is well placed to support homework, test preparation and building confident study habits.

This tutor is open about not having formal tutoring experience yet, but he has extensive experience working with people in busy, customer-facing roles, which has strengthened his patience, communication and reliability. Lee especially enjoys working with younger children and is comfortable breaking down tricky ideas into small, manageable steps. Having served on a student representative council, he is used to listening carefully, encouraging others and creating a positive, respectful atmosphere that helps students feel safe to ask questions.

Lee speaks English, Chinese and Japanese, and has even participated in a full Japanese-language Model United Nations, building advanced public speaking and research skills. He can draw on this multilingual background to support students from diverse homes and to make language and literacy sessions more engaging. Outside the classroom, he plays basketball and guitar in bands, which he uses to connect with studentsβ interests and create examples that feel relevant to their everyday lives while still keeping sessions focused and productive.
