What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I love mentoring students and helping them study smarter while developing a deeper understanding of concepts. It is rewarding for me to see students gain confidence, overcome challenges, and become more independent learners.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
One of my strengths as a tutor is my background in psychology and my understanding of how people learn effectively. I believe motivation, confidence, and study strategy play a major role in academic success, not just intelligence or effort alone.
I enjoy helping students develop a deeper understanding of concepts rather than relying solely on memorisation. I also like introducing evidence-based learning techniques, such as active recall and the Feynman Technique, which I have successfully used myself to improve learning and retention.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe the most important thing a tutor can do is help students develop a genuine interest in learning. While study techniques and academic support are important, students learn best when they are motivated, curious, and engaged. By creating a supportive and encouraging environment, a tutor can help students build confidence, enjoy the learning process, and become more independent learners.

About Nicholas
Psychology Student Who Understands How Students Think
Nicholas is a psychology student who brings a strong understanding of motivation, learning and behaviour into his tutoring. He uses what he studies to notice when a student is confused, anxious or disengaged, and adjusts his explanations and pacing to suit. Having achieved more than 80% in high school General Mathematics, he is confident with core concepts and methods, and focuses on building a solid foundation rather than rushing through worksheets.
Clear Communicator with a Calm, Encouraging Style
This tutor has developed excellent communication skills through years of customer-facing roles, where he explains information clearly to people of all ages and backgrounds. In lessons, he breaks problems into simple, manageable steps and checks understanding with gentle questions rather than putting students on the spot. Parents can expect a patient, reliable tutor who listens carefully, rephrases tricky ideas in everyday language, and helps students feel comfortable asking “silly” questions.
Relatable Role Model for Primary and High School Students
Being a current university student, Nicholas is close enough to school himself to remember what actually helps in Maths and what just adds stress. He enjoys working one-on-one, turning mistakes into learning moments and celebrating small wins to build confidence. He can draw on his own study strategies from senior school and university to teach planning, time management and exam techniques, helping students not only understand Maths but also feel more in control of their overall learning.
