I like that I can play an active role in someone else’s education and I like the overall idea of being part of their journey. Since I have just ended my high school education, I understand and find the struggles of a student relatable. Furthermore, connecting with them on a more personal level helps me understand how I can help them a little bit more.My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Adapting to the students strenghts and weaknesses. Through my experience as an auxiliary teacher, I learned that every student learns at a different pace and each have their personal end goal. I have learned that it is important to alter tutoring approches according to their style, such they can learn effectively and on their own time. Since I am still learning, I am also receptive to feedback and always looking for ways to improve my teaching so that I can better support my students' learning.Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Communication and honesty. Attending supplementary classes is one thing, but knowing whether the students are actually learning is another hurdle on its own. It is important to keep communicating effectively with students, to know whether the lessons are helping them or not, while students truthfully tell their tutors what they are struggling in, and not fake the results they have. Multiplication is a new topic that was introduced last week at school so what we went through today was done pretty quickly and was understood well too. Well done!
As of this lesson, there was not much worries in terms of her conceptual understanding or her application of skills taught. However, because multiplication is new to her, it is important that she does not get that confused to addition. For example, although 2x2 and 2+2 gives the same answer, they use different ways to get 4. This can only be reinforced if she constantly practices using these models worksheets either at school or at home.

Anny is good at using the quadratic formula to solve quadratic equations. Do be careful about which values are a, b and c respectively, especially when there are negative values.
I notice that Anny seem to find it difficult to understand mathematical clues from the question when there is context involved. Here, what needs to be focused is visualising how the contextual clues look like (from a picture/graph) and putting the clues in a way that seems familiar to be used moving forward.

Quinn did really well at remebering how to use the working in adding 2-digit numbers, especially the concept of carry-the-one. When doing the subtraction, she was quick at mentally taking away the numbers and doing the equations on her own. Great job!
Because the two workings can be similar, Quinn seems to be a little confused between adding and subtracting. We may need to focus a little bit more at differentiating the two operations and knowing when to use “carry-the-one” (for addition) or “borrowing” (for subtraction).

We were able to finish a set of questions on parabolas and sketching them. Anny was able to follow the checklist to answer questions on sketching the graph with no problem. We also quickly went through the main understanding of concepts for hyperbolas and circles and Anny was able to quickly understand them well. Good job!
There may be some times when Anny might have slipped and forgot certain forms of equations, but this can be overcome with just a little bit more practice.
