What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I quite enjoy sharing the energy expressed with a student that is beginning to understand the problem at hand. When they start to feel like they can do it, it results in a feeling of success in myself along with simply elevating the mood in the room between myself and whomever I am teaching.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I can often work with different learning styles, such as visual and audible learning. Each person understands information best through their own learning style and being able to accommodate each student's needs comes quite naturally to me.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I believe the most important thing for a tutor to do is to keep the student engaged. Often students in tutoring are behind in work because they lose focus in a classroom or simply find it boring. Being able to hone a student's attention to the work will dramatically improve their chances of success.

About Joshua

Me

I grew up in Perth with my mum, dad and older sister. I played cricket and football throughout my childhood, learning to work as a team and support one another. This translates to my work, as I can help my students build on their weaknesses and encourage them in moments of success. Generally, my parents would consult me with math problems and understanding logical situations. I have memories of this happening while as young as 8 years old. In my spare time, I like to keep my brain active by solving puzzles like sudoku and crosswords, along with playing various strategy games with friends.

Study

I have successfully completed year 12 studies and achieved a WACE certificate as a result. I now study at Curtin University in a Bachelor of Surveying (Honours) course, which I began in 2025. Throughout high school I achieved a total of 10 awards for outstanding performances within my cohort. This is made up of 6 math awards, 3 physical education awards and 1 award for woodworking.
