Angus is quite strong at solving financial maths questions. We went through linear equations and he was able to get the hang of it after some explanation and he could do some basic linear algrebra and understood gradient and y intercept to understand lines and draw them.

At the root of it, Angus is still quite behind on his knowledge of foundational mathematics, making it difficult for him to pick up Year 10 topics. However, every lesson, he does feel more and more comfortable about the topics and is able to at least do parts of some questions that would have stumped him weeks ago.

We went through a wide range of topics and questions which Angus felt comfortable with after we went through them together. In some questions, Angus has the right idea in order to solve them but may not know how to find the answer fully.

Angus tends to forget topics that we work on previous lessons which made it so some questions we did this week were very similar to questions we went through last week. Overall, Angus' actual understanding of the topics is quite limited so at this late time for preparation we had to focus on noticing certain patterns and what to do when you see those patterns.

Towards the end, Angus seemed to understand the concept of algebra and how to connect like terms together. He also learnt how to solve simple equations.

In general, the lesson was catch up because Angus' understanding of algebra is behind so we had to go through the general information of algebra.

There were a lot of topics that Angus felt confident in. In some questions, specifically financial maths, Angus understood the ideas and how to solve the questions. Some topics were completely foreign to Angus, such as bearings, but he started to understand the idea.

Angus does not have any knowledge of some topics throughout the year. These topics will require catch up for his yearly. These topics are bearings, graph walks and linear equations on a graph.
