What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

What I enjoy most about tutoring is seeing a student grow in confidence. I find it rewarding when a student who initially struggles with a concept begins to understand it and feels proud of their own progress. Through my work with Discovering Without Borders, I enjoyed helping students work through STEM activities by explaining concepts in different ways and encouraging them to keep trying. I believe learning should be engaging and supportive, and I enjoy creating an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as part of the learning process.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I believe my strengths are patience, communication, and adaptability. I understand that every student learns differently, so I take the time to explain concepts in ways that suit their learning style. My experience facilitating STEM workshops, mentoring students, and volunteering at a Homework Club has helped me develop the ability to build rapport with young people and encourage them without making them feel pressured. My Computer Science studies have also strengthened my problem-solving skills, allowing me to break complex ideas into simple, manageable steps.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do is build both understanding and confidence. While improving academic results is important, students also need to believe in their own ability to learn and solve problems independently. A good tutor listens carefully, adapts to each student's needs, provides encouragement, and creates a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions. Ultimately, I think the goal of tutoring is not just to help students succeed in their next test, but to help them become confident, independent learners who enjoy learning.
