What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I've always enjoyed helping mates work through problems they're stuck on, even before I thought of it as tutoring. There's something genuinely satisfying about sitting with someone who's frustrated with a concept, breaking it down differently, and watching it click. You can see their confidence shift in real time. Maths has this reputation for being impossibly hard, and I think a lot of that comes down to how it's explained rather than the subject itself. Changing someone's relationship with a topic they thought they'd never get is the part I enjoy most.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I'm good at reading people. If an explanation isn't landing, I don't just repeat it louder and hope for the best. I find a different way in. Some students need to see the logic step by step, others need a real-world hook before the theory makes sense. I pick up on that quickly and adjust on the fly.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Meet them where they are and explain things in a way that actually connects with them. If a student is into sport, use a sport analogy. If they're into gaming, use that. The maths doesn't change but the way you frame it makes all the difference between something clicking and something just feeling abstract and irrelevant. The best tutors don't just teach the content, they make the student feel like they can actually do it.
