What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy being able to explain concepts clearly to my student. I love seeing when it “clicks†for them and I get a genuine sense of fulfilment from that. Being able to see my friends/students improve over time is also really satisfying and it makes me feel proud knowing that I’ve made a difference in another person’s life.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My creativity. If my tutees experience any roadblocks or have difficulty understanding my explanations, I find it a fun challenge to figure out a different way that I can help them or an analogy I can use to guide them.
Another strength I have is my friendliness. I aim to have a comfortable, casual relationship with my student and build a sense of rapport with them. I find that this helps make sessions run smoother, while also letting the students know that I’m here for them beyond just teaching.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
More than just being a teacher, I believe a tutor also has to be a friend to their student. Not only does this improve learning by showing the student that you’re a safe space and that they can ask questions and make mistakes with you, it also boosts their confidence and motivates them to try harder in school. Hence, I consider being a friendly face and developing a tight-knit bond with your student an essential aspect of being a tutor.
