What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

When I tutor, I enjoy seeing concepts 'click' for students. When they realise that they can solve a problem that they previously found difficult, it's very rewarding to witness that. Additionally, helping a student gain the skills and confidence needed to not only solve one type of problem, but to be able to expand those skills into other areas is truly wonderful growth to be able to see in person. These are part of the reasons why I am drawn to being a tutor.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

As a tutor, my greatest strength is my ability to adapt my teaching strategies to fit different learning styles of my students. I do this by identifying the approach that best helps my student understand effectively. I can then explain a concept in a variety of ways, such as with visual aids, by breaking it into multiple steps, or with a metaphor. These methods help the student comprehend the concept and reinforces the knowledge for them.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I think that the most important thing a tutor can do is foster a supportive environment, where students can ask questions. This is important, as when I was a student, I often found it difficult to ask clarifications when the instructor seemed unapproachable. This really impacted my ability to learn and also affected my confidence. I want to ensure that others do not feel the same way. I try to appear approachable by always being friendly when speaking to students and addressing their frustrations or concerns. This ensures that students understand that they can ask questions without judgement.
