What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Seeing my students proud of their progress. Maths can be hard, but working towards a goal together brings a lot of joy, no matter how small the goal is. Sometimes it's as simple as finally solving a single homework exercise. Those moments are what I enjoy most about tutoring.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My biggest strength is experience. I've been tutoring since I was 14, and in 2024 I was employed as a teacher, helping students prepare for their final Maths exams (the Abitur in Germany). Outside of Maths, I coached soccer for five years and now work as a climbing instructor. Through all of this, I've learned how to spot where a student is getting stuck and adapt to different personalities and learning styles. I also think empathy is one of my most valuable skills. It helps me understand what a student is struggling with so we can find a solution together.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Be passionate. One of the reasons I'm now doing a Master's in Mathematics (UNSW) is that my high school Maths teacher loved her work, and her passion was contagious. I believe a tutor's attitude towards a subject deeply shapes how students feel about it. That's why I think passion is the most important thing a tutor can bring to a student.
