What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I think I truly love the intrinsic, rewarding satisfaction I get from helping a student bridge a gap they were previously unsure on how to approach. I want to see students gain that confidence in themselves, and develop that sense of self agency through my teaching.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I believe I can communicate ideas clearly and adapt my explanations to different learning styles. I will make sure to present as many perspectives as the student needs, because understanding is not a 'one size fits all'. I am patient, enthusiastic, and I can facilitate an environment where it is okay to make mistakes, and will foster curiosity paired with logic skills over rote learning. I have experimented with many different techniques to explain subjects, some key ones being a visual style, involving storytelling, where I can simplify difficult concepts into manageable stories.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important things a tutor can do for a student involves developing that students self-efficacy. This is the students ability to tackle a problem at its core, breaking it into steps and generate a plan to solve it by themselves. This self-agency extends just the exam hall, and also involves time management. Another is teaching curiosity. Too many children will memorise and forget. To make a student enjoy long term learning, they ideally should be excited to learn why things work.
