What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I really enjoy seeing a student not just manage to do a problem, but watch a concept "click" in their mind. Doing that is one of the most consistently satisfying aspects of tutoring
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I am a very patient person, and this is reflected in how I run tutoring sessions and approach my students.
I am also very good at determining where the actual underlying difficulty is (e.g. is the student really struggling with graphing straight lines, or are they having trouble with the underlying algebra?).
Having a good knowledge of the prerequisite topics in maths gives me a lot of insight into what students are actually struggling with, and I don't hesitate to go back and revisit/refresh older topics.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Anyone can tell someone how to do a problem (many students also have access to worked solutions on their own).
The best asset a tutor can give a student is problem solving in general - how to approach a problem and think critically. This is a skill that's developed like any other with lots of practice, and it's my job as a tutor to guide a student through this.
