What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
What I enjoy most about tutoring is seeing students build their confidence and understanding over time. It is rewarding when a student who initially struggles with a concept can eventually explain it in their own words. I also enjoy getting to know each student's learning style and finding different ways to make challenging topics more accessible and engaging.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I believe my main strengths are patience, adaptability and communication. Through my secondary school teaching placements and online VCE Biology teaching experience, I have developed the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and adjust my teaching strategies to suit different learning needs. I can also speak Mandarin and teach in Chinese, which allows me to support Chinese-speaking students and explain difficult concepts in a language they are more comfortable with. Being bilingual in English and Mandarin also allows me to support students from diverse language background.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I.think the most important thing a tutor can do is help students become confident and independent learners. Instead of giving out the answers, a good tutor should see gaps in understanding, break down difficult concepts and encourage students to think critically. Building a positive relationship is equally important, as students are more likely to engage and ask questions when they feel supported. Ultimately, I believe effective tutoring should help students develop skills they can apply beyond individual lessons.
