What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
The one thing I enjoy the most about tutoring is the simple idea of helping people learn something new. When a person grasps something they didn't prior to you, it is a very rewarding feeling to know they now understand and have acquired something new.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
As a person, I am extremely patient and understanding. I've been told I'm a great teacher as I've had to train several people at my receptionist position at a dental office. I know that everyone learns at a different pace so I can understand this and take my time with anyone until a concept is clearly understood.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is help them gain knowledge on an idea that wasn't understood prior to your tutoring. Again, I think it is a rewarding feeling to know that someone has learned something new because of you!

Leon had finished most of the questions before I came for this session. This is what I had instructed him to do last week so that we can do the questions he had difficulty with only. This was amazing - he's showing more interest in maths! He also fully completed the rest of this work on Day 5 in just under half an hour from me leaving the session and he had sent me the answers - which were all perfect!! Very impressed with him.
He gets distracted sometimes when he's had enough of his math - he started to draw on his hand and I had to continuously tell him to pay attention because we were almost done! As long as he focuses, he know's what he's doing and he excels.

He still need to get in the habit of the "pen and paper" rule because he tends to want to do everything in his head and then doesn't check iff it's right on paper. I keep encouraging him this is the only way he'll know for sure that his answers from his head are correct. He understands but is still too eager to get it done quickly in his head.

Caught on quickly to the questions he answered incorrectly. Seems motivated, and understand 'pen and paper' technique is very important as opposed to coming up with answers in his head. He's also lining up his addition/subtraction/multiplication answers much better than before!
He wants to get his work done quickly and usually leaves it until last minute to complete. He is aware he shouldn't do this because he might not have time for it later, so we encouraged him to put aside a maximum of an hour a day for his math homework. He agreed!

He simplified fractions very well today and was able to correctly figure out common denominators fairly quickly in his head for the fractions that we worked on. I noticed he was aware that he must line up his answers and this was an improvement from the last couple of sessions!
His multiplication tables need a little more improvement - particularly 9 times tables is what Leon had repeated trouble with today. We reiterated that multiplication tables are the basis of any math question, especially the ones we were working. He sometimes also gets a little distracted and guesses the answer before double checking that it's right. We made sure to go over the idea of "pen and paper" when figuring out questions in order to prevent incorrect answers.
