What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

Like teaching, when tutoring, I enjoy helping students gain understanding and new skills and knowledge and reach goals. I also enjoy the relationship you are able to build with the students because you are working either one-on-one or with small groups.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

Vast teaching experience across three states and from preschool up to Yr 12, as well as across most subjects. Worked in ESL with Aboriginal students. Good understanding of the English language. Love teaching Literacy. Have a good understanding of learning preferences/styles. (Daughter has Dyslexia.) Build rapport easily with all ages. Patient. Will encourage student to attempt tasks without telling them how to do it. Will celebrate successes with the student. Have a gentle yet firm approach. Previously worked as a NAPLAN marker, which deepened my knowledge of grammar and sentence structure.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

Have a good working relationship with them. Be patient. Encourage them to 'have a go'. Encourage them to take a 'risk'. Help them to understand that mistakes are ok - they are simply a step in the learning process. Encourage them to do their best. Celebrate their successes. Encourage them to believe in themselves and their abilities.
