What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I love seeing how students grow in confidence as they improve academically. When they improve, they instil a positive attitude towards the subject and begin enjoying something which used to be one of the least enjoyable aspects of school.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I am patient and resilient - I understand that students will not suddenly significantly improve. I know it takes time and that some students take longer to grasp concepts than others.
I am kind and gentle, which will help students develop trust.
I am motivated and determined to assist students in reaching their academic goals.
I am not just a tutor but a mentor - I know how it feels to be anxious before exams, and have learnt stress-management strategies that I would love to share with others.
I can tutor any level of maths up to year 10 and standard maths for years 11 and 12.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
One of the most important things a tutor can do is motivate a student to try their best. A tutor should commend a student when succeeding, and encourage them when they are struggling. I go beyond the syllabus and love to teach students all the skills I have picked up over the years, such as study habits and stress management. With my tutoring, your child can begin to enjoy the aspects of school which they initially considered the least enjoyable.

Lila learnt how to order the terms in equations (eg. powers first, then terms with letters and numbers, then letters by themselves, then numbers). She got almost all questions correct. We can work on more challenging questions for this topic next time.
Lila initially forgot to simplify the fractions, so we'll do more questions where simplifying is required, so she remembers to look out for that. Mainly, it's just doing more questions so that she can get faster (though I can see already that her speed is improving!)
Lila was competent at probability questions involving words, e.g. finding the probability of selecting a vowel in the word INSTANT.

More practice on A | B questions is needed. She was confused by the dice questions, so more practice on that too is recommended.
Lila was able to find longer and shorter sides using pythagoras' theorem.

She got confused when the given and unknown values were swapped around - practicing trig questions would be beneficial in order to get used to the order and way that the questions are solved.
Lila remembered how to calculate the median, mean, range and mode.

She got confused between the simple and compound interest formula, so revision on this is recommended.
