With some explanation, once Katherine knows an index law she knows how to use it and can do so in simple terms.

Some certain index laws have not yet stuck in Katherine's head and understanding some of them are key for future learning in this topic.

Applying index laws is something that Katherine struggles with, and will need to be investigated further

Sometimes when a power is attached at the end of an expression Katherine tries to use it throughout the entire expression, which is not quite correct. Must ammend by showing proper method.

Index laws seem to be understood well by Katherine - all she needs is more applications of them! We will do one hard question of these each week.

Factorising can use some work - Katherine struggles with understanding common factors and how to derive them and express them in factorised form. We will be working on this and expansions next week.

Katherine understands how to multiply indices, as well as adding two indices and the concept of 'like terms' in indices which gives them the ability to be added or subtracted.

We will need to keep checking Katherine's knowledge for retention of understanding of indices. Furthermore, the division of indices is something she struggles with - we will need to further develop these skills and I will investigate effective methods of teaching these.
