What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy teaching math.
With older students, they are in the level of mathematics that they chose and they're fighting for the ATAR mark they deserve. With these kinds of students, you don't need to beat around the bush. They send me emails prior to each session on what they want to cover, they are willing to question and challenge what I teach. That's rewarding to me as it is now a two way street.
With students in primary, it is nice building up the basics with them. Little things like fractions and timetables play an important part in dealing with harder subjects like algebra.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Mathematics is a sequential topic. Each step is built on the previous step. While you can learn to do mathematics by memorising or using a formula blindly, you get something richer and firmer if you build on what you already know.
Something as basic as fractions or multiplication plays a part in learning algebra in secondary school. Each concept in math is linked and I can show the way.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing to prevent students from getting frustrated. We serve as a guide to lead them away from dead ends, or from developing bad habits. We show them the shortcuts (and why they work!!). We explain how it is all linked.
As one on one, we can start at their level and go back to the basics if we need to.
