What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I find it really rewarding when I am able to help explain concepts in a way that the student is able to understand and really have that light bulb moment from not understanding at the start. I really enjoy interacting with the student and their parents to follow up on topics that they have struggled with previously to see that they have made progress in improving. For example, when I was tutoring my peer’s sibling, the parents reached out after a few months and personally let me know that their child’s maths grades had been increasing since I had started tutoring her.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I take initiative to improve personally as a tutor. For example, if I am explaining a concept in a way where the student doesn’t understand it, I will try and find an alternative way to explain it to match their learning style. With maths especially, it can be hard to understand by just explaining with words, so I generally like to explain with visuals if the question permits. For chemistry, I explained paper chromatography with physical objects like a piece of paper alongside words to ensure that my peer understood the concept.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
It’s important for a tutor to help a student to be able to foster and grow their love for learning. I also strongly believe that providing students a safe space to ask any questions regarding the learning process is imperative so that students are able to receive the necessary support to aid their academic development and therefore, help them to achieve their personal academic goals.

Chloe was able to pick up how to name angles using convention and also identifying pairs of angles in parallel with traverse lines. She does require some more time and practice with these questions to get a better grasp of the concepts and applying them, as we went over the fundamentals during the lesson.
Emily has a good grasp and understanding of how to complete BODMAS questions of up to 4 terms with and without brackets, with little to no guidance.

Emily needs a bit of time to warm back up to completing BODMAS questions when she hasn't done them in a little while, however, once she is warmed up, she is able to complete them quite quickly without much trouble.
Chloe did very well on her last test, and has continued to show improvement in her times tables, particularly in written questions.

Chloe requires more practice with her 11 and 12 times tables. Since we were not able to have a lesson last week, she is a little bit rusty on some of her 7,8 and 9 times tables as well, which can be easily solved with more frequent practice.
Chloe has shown some strong improvements in her times tables knowledge.

Chloe still requires some more practice with her higher times tables and in memorising them. We can also further strengthen her fundamental understanding in completing algorithms of all operations.
