My Strengths as Tutor 💪

Teaching people can be difficult without gaining their trust, which makes it essential to be approachable and relatable. I would want my students to feel the confidence to ask questions so that we can work through anything they have trouble with. Knowledge of maths at a fundamental level is also an important factor in being able to help a student. It's one thing to be able to rattle off a formula, but to be able to describe how and why it works, as well as shortcuts they can use for it is essential in teaching the subject and getting them good marks.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

Outwardly showing enthusiasm for the subject, such that a student can share this enthusiasm and gain enjoyment from learning is critical to their motivation. Because of the one to one environment a tutor provides, it allows the student to learn at their own pace, and it's easy to stop and reexplain something that was originally misunderstood. As someone who has recently completed the HSC themself, I am aware of the pressures a student can face in their final year. As a tutor I could utilise my empathy to alleviate this pressure, and share my techniques in achieving high marks in exams.
