What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
Being able to guide the person you are tutoring from having limited understanding and comprehension toward a certain topic, to being confident enough to be able to answer questions with ease and understand the given topic well.
Being able to share my love for learning and being able to pass that on to the person I am tutoring, and just being able to see how much joy it brings them is second to none.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
In terms of knowledge, experience and expertise, my strengths in terms of topics are definitely in the maths and science areas. These are the topics I enjoyed most when I was at school, and therefore I had a better understanding of these topics, so did better and would therefore be able to teach these subjects far better than a subject I did not have this passion for. That being said, I am still quite confident in subjects such as english and religious studies, however would not be as confident teaching a year 12 student about it, due to my main strengths lying in maths/science and engineering
Most important things I can do for a student π
I believe that patience is definitely a major aspect of tutoring. There is nothing worse than being expected to understand something and being unable to go back and revisit it, simply because the tutor is impatient or not understanding/empathetic enough.
Another important aspect I would say would have to be teaching slowly where needed and not being worried to slow down or go back and teach something that has already been taught in a different way. The student will be unable to learn new, harder things if they donβt understand the previous content that is a foundation for the new content
