Finding a suitable maths tutor for your child can be difficult. Where do you start? What do you look for? Experience? Personality? Someone local? Should they teach their own content or work on your child's current school work? How often should you have tutoring? How long should each session be? Is a particular time of the day more effective than other times? So many questions, but, after years and years of experience, we can assure you there is no on-size-fits-all answer. Tuition is an individual matter....

So many questions, but, after years and years of experience, we can assure you there is no on-size-fits-all answer. Tuition is an individual matter. It's really about finding someone who is a good match for your specific situation. That means a good personality match + a teaching style that matches the student's learning style + a good balance between empathy and authoritativeness + many other things.
Unfortunately no tutor profile can tell you if the tutor will be a good match. You won't know that until you see them working together.
It usually doesn't take us more than a few days to organise a maths tutor in Annandale. And, we really want you to love your tutor! That's why your first lesson works as a trial. Don't think the match is good? We'll organise someone else...

The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
Jack is making good progress on most of the learning strategies I've been teaching him. His pen to paper and back checking skills are improving, though he still does make the occasional careless mistake. It's something that we'll be working on over time. I'm slowly introducing seeking understanding to him, so that he'll understand the mathematical concepts fully.
Liam's attitude to learning has continued to be very pleasant and enthusiastic. We have had a few times where Liam hasn't completed homework this month, and he has yet to show me his test paper, but the reasons for this were generally because he was studying for his test using other materials, but we definitely need to keep an eye that it doesn't become a habit! Liam generally has a great work ethic, completing all set work and trying hard in our sessions.
Not much gaps. Just need some revisions on simplifying fractions, the chapter percentages and practice a LOT of word problems. So far everything is good. Just need to practice a lot of questions.

Thank you. So far so good. Sarah is very approachable and friendly, quick to respond to emails etc. and has a great collaborative style. Jake, who was skeptical of tutoring at first, has found the sessions very useful.
We are delighted with Charlie as Gabrielle's tutor. He has been prompt, polite, pleasant and extremely helpful. Within 2 sessions I could see her confidence in attacking problem solving questions had improved and approach to Maths in general.
Tammy is great. She has a friendly manner and she is enthusiastic at every session. Lucy seems to like her and she has some great methods for teaching. She engages Lucy and makes the sessions fun and interesting bringing things along to help Lucy understand what she is trying to teach her. She is concentrating on what Lucy's weaknesses are while thinking ahead for Lucy for year 7. From my observations of the sessions I think she will help Lucy enormously. I am very happy with Tammy to date and hope that she is happy to continue on with Lucy
