I believe the most invaluable thing a tutor can do for a student is to teach them when they need help from a tutor and when they don't require one, and have the conviction and excitement to approach challenges themselves. A good tutor should not only be able to provide the fundamental instruments of learning but equip students with the capacity…

As a tutor, being adaptable and cognizant of each student’s unique needs is crucial for their success. Every student learns differently, and by staying attuned to their individual learning styles, strengths, and areas for improvement, I can adjust my teaching methods to best support them. Whether it’s adapting the pace of a lesson, using…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is mentor and guide. I believe tutors help out students to not only learn content but help them realize the real world and practical value of what is learn t being able to help them apply such skills in their education and further career. As a tutor, my core strengths include being timely,…

I think the most important thing for a tutor to do is to always be available to the students for any questions they may have, in and outside of the lesson. This is because I beleive that being afraid to ask questions is the biggest barrier to learning as this conversational aspect is crucial to understanding a concept entirely. Apart from that,…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to help them fully understand the subject and its topics. Once a student properly understands the contents then they can successfully apply the right information to the questions. I can explain a concept or topic in different ways and perspective. This is important as students are very…

I believe the most important things are recognising their progress and congratulating them for it as school can always be tough and every student has a different pace they work at. I also believe having support through your education is important and a tutor needs to give a student that positive motivation to do well, it’s good for the student…

To be a mentor - a backup or second person to help and support them. Someone who can assist them in achieving their desired goals. A tutor should know the most important part of their position is fundamentally to be that helping guide. I am passionate and willing. I enjoy sharing my thought process and making things easier for someone else by…

I think the most important things a tutor can do is make their student feel like coming to their class and really being able to learn something. Its important for a child not to feel like going to tutoring is a chore and something they have to do but rather something they would want to do, in order to do better in their academics. I believe my…

Inside Beaumont HillsTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 12 student Priya focused on Chemistry concepts including Le Chatelier's principle and solubility, as well as refining her assignment work by reviewing reliability, accuracy, and validity in experiments.

Year 11 student Alex worked through advanced annuities problems for Mathematics and revisited key skills in planning for an upcoming assessment.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Ben tackled trigonometry using past paper questions and spent time practicing linear relationships and simultaneous equations, with some lessons incorporating Excel for mathematical modelling.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Chemistry, one student misplaced her calculator for multiple lessons and "forgot to keep a ruler on hand for graph questions," which slowed progress on quantitative tasks.

A Year 12 student repeatedly brought incomplete attempts to class, meaning valuable time was spent catching up rather than reviewing feedback together.

In Year 9 Maths, unclear setting out and occasional algebra errors made it harder for the tutor to pinpoint where misunderstandings were occurring—"I would highly recommend...start using an equations book" was suggested.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 Science student hesitated to write answers down, delaying practice with scientific vocabulary and explanations.

Recent Achievements

One Beaumont Hills tutor noticed a Year 11 student who, after weeks of making small algebraic errors, now double-checks her work and proactively asks to revise the trickiest questions—she even directed the flow of their last session.

Another high schooler who once hesitated to contribute in chemistry lessons has started explaining concepts out loud using scientific terms, and recently tackled several HSC-style exam questions with minimal prompting.

In Year 6, a student who used to guess through story assignments can now independently plan each section before writing and is editing his own paragraphs for clarity.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Vinegar Hill Memorial Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Beaumont Hills Public School.
