Learning Chemistry feels like learning a new language. It's hard in the beginning, you don't know what to look out for and even though you recognise things here and there that doesn't mean you can read a formula, let alone understand it. It's one of those subjects where it clicks or it just doesn't. Tutors we work with understand that. They've been there, they had to overcome the same hurdle and they are passionate about helping...
They've been there, they had to overcome the same hurdle and they are passionate about helping others do the same. They know the pitfalls, where to spend that extra hour and what you need to memorise before you can completely understand a concept.

The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
Emmerson has learned to apply the techniques of talking aloud, back checking and pen to paper. She is also getting more used to admitting weaknesses and asking for help. She is still developing the skills needed to write notes that will aid her in revision and understanding.
Jacob is gaining more confident in answering questions without asking me for hints or the answers. At times, he seems distracted particularly when doing division so I have to keep shifting his focus back to tutoring. When he does get the momentum going, he can do the worksheets in a steady pace and able to focus well. Just need to ensure he always double check his answers before finalizing it
Priscilla has done well in the topics we covered this past month. However Priscilla had a bit of trouble with calculating time and distance using a globe, which we will focus on improving in the next few weeks.
Georgie is really enjoying coaching with Gabrielle. She's already doing so much better in maths at school (her teacher has commented on the huge improvement at recent parent teacher conference!). Gabrielle is a real asset to your team. She's so polite, punctual, intelligent and just fantastic.
We're very happy with Shehara and Marco has started to build a bond with Shehara. Marco's making steady progress and we'd like to keep the Maths tutoring going.
Henry was very happy with Hayden's style of tutoring. He found him clear and concise in the way he explained methods, and was teaching him the same way his teacher is at school. Whilst I was listening in the background I could hear that Hayden was very encouraging towards Henry which I'm sure gave him some confidence to tackle the next equation. I know that Hayden will leave more and more homework going forward, he was keen to get to know Henry as a person, identify his strengths and weaknesses first.
