Learning Chemistry feels like learning a new language. It's hard in the beginning, you don't know what to look out for and even though you recognise things here and there that doesn't mean you can read a formula, let alone understand it. It's one of those subjects where it clicks or it just doesn't. Tutors we work with understand that. They've been there, they had to overcome the same hurdle and they are passionate about helping...
They've been there, they had to overcome the same hurdle and they are passionate about helping others do the same. They know the pitfalls, where to spend that extra hour and what you need to memorise before you can completely understand a concept.

The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
Francesco has implemented strategies such as talking aloud, and self-questioning. This has enabled him to think more about what the question is asking, and what methods to apply to solve the problem. He also seeks understanding and attempts to transfer skills from problem to problem.
Ethan had a sound attitude during the lessons. He would benefit from some extra effort towards his study. Perhaps doing extra homework by looking at the algebra section of his textbook would help.
For 3 of the 4 weeks from this month the student successfully attempted homework questions, however failed week 4 as the student was confused, and failed to see the relevance of the topic that was being taught during that lesson. The student this term has learnt how to effectively simplify fractions and the basics of algebra (which is to be revisited at a later date), however demonstrates a lack of knowledge in particular problem solving questions.
I would like to say that Justin is a wonderful young man. I know it's only early stages but Arin had a smile on his face that filled my heart. Arin has a lot of respect for Justin, which tells me there is a good connection or understanding developing. Thank you for finding us Justin. In Arin's words ' I have learnt more with Justin in three lessons than with the other tutor we had over the past year'. I think we can say Arin has gotten off to a great start. My only hope is that Justin is also comfortable with us.
