Other than doing the basics of helping students complete their homework, a tutor should identify which areas a student is struggling in and then focus on that area by reviewing basics and providing extra course material and example answers. This will benefit the student best rather than continuously focusing on questions that the student is…

Becoming friends with the actual student that helps them grow as individuals rather than simply teaching content is the most important thing a tutor can do for a student. Personally, I recognize that there are many responsibilities that a diligent tutor must fulfill, these include: - patience (no matter how many times a student doesn't understand a concept, a tutor should be patient and keep trying) - A supportive environment (students shouldn't feel judged and should have the confidence to openly ask…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do is make a student believe they are capable. A lot of students have already decided they are bad at the subject, so rebuilding that confidence comes first. From there it is about helping them understand the thinking behind an answer, not just the answer itself. If they only memorise a method they…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student is to be approachable. For a tutor to be a successful guide, the student must feel comfortable in discussing their issues and weaknesses. Most importantly a tutor needs to have empathy for his or her students. Being able to take them on a journey of learning and fun so they become more and more curious and are able to learn through keen interest and out of the box thinking is what a tutor should do for students. I would consider patience, kindness, logical thinking and being able to…

EzyMath Tutoring has really catered to my needs and reacted to feedback both positive and negative to get the Tutor with the right fit for my son. Since his tutoring, in 1 term he has gone from having a lack of confidence, not completing tests and homework, to now coming in the top 5 in his class with recent test results. I highly recommend EzyMath Tutoring.

Inside BungarribeeTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 9 student Lachlan focused on solving simultaneous equations using substitution and elimination methods, and practiced modeling exponential growth and decay scenarios like population change.

Year 8 student Ethan worked through key concepts in coordinate geometry by finding gradients, midpoints, and distances between points, as well as reviewing linear equations using classwork examples.

For primary level, Year 5 student Alyssa tackled adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, and rounding decimals with practical exercises and vocabulary review activities including a word search.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student found it challenging to keep written working clear when rounding numbers, making corrections difficult to track—"working out needs to be a bit larger," the tutor noted.

In Year 10 algebra, skipping subtraction steps in taxable income questions sometimes led to confusion about which figures had been included.

For a senior (Year 12) tackling simultaneous equations, relying mainly on the elimination method left her underprepared for substitution-based exam tasks; homework was set but not always completed before lessons.

When faced with long worded problems in both Years 5 and 9, some students hesitated to attempt full solutions without reassurance.

Recent Achievements

A Bungarribee tutor noticed a Year 12 student who was initially confused by interpreting correlation plots now accurately identifies graph relationships—something that previously led to mistakes on assignments.

In another session, a Year 10 student who used to avoid seeking help has started openly asking questions when unsure about trigonometric concepts and completed an entire booklet independently after clarifying just a few points.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student who was hesitant with rounding numbers at first gained confidence by collaborating with her sister and finished all related questions without assistance.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Mt Druitt Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Mountain View Adventist College.
