Chinese Tutor Chippendale, NSW
I believe the most important thing is to make sure the student fully understands the knowledge, being able to use it in any situation, while enjoying the learning. It is when the student fully engages in their learning experience that the outcome can be fully maximised. I wish this upon all students, and I would love to be the mentor who guides…

Tutors are different with teachers, of course. As a tutor, I can teach fewer students in a small classroom (1to1/1to 2), which means I can take care of each child, not only on their school work but also on their mental thinking ; I can answer their questions in time or straight away; I can help them to have a look of their homework questions or…

Teach students how to solve the problem by themselves, and this problem means all kinds of troubles in their lives. I am good at listening and I always will find some details and problems people normally will not notice. And I am good at solving problems (math problems) because I come from China, where math is a critical subject. Also, I am…

I consider the tutor's ability to empower the students to face and share the problems which they are not comfortable with as one of the most important things. I am bilingual (Mandarin and English) and due to the fact I am a current student, I am able to empathise with students as they are approaching new areas of…

1. understand the student and be patient. Most of the students don't like Math cause they miss some of the steps during school teaching and don't understand the principal. I believe after they catch part of the knowledge up and practice several times. Everything will be excellent. Help students overcome their fear of math and make them feel that…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student are build confidence in the student; help students improving their study skills; make them to think in terms of problem solving and not just methods. I believe my strength is in helping students to simplify complex problems and guiding them to start solving problems on their own. Also as a…

Through previous tutoring experience, I’m particular good at sportify where the student gets stuck on or what concept they’ve messed up at the start of tutoring and therefore offer help according to their learning styles and foundations. This is the thing I think most important during tutoring: support the students base on their own…

Allow students to investigate something they cannot find without a tutor, this includes bringing new ideas and thoughts to students. Learning the methods not the question. I enjoyed teaching others and through out my teaching experience with my friends I gain a lot of experience on how to teach in a way that makes complex ideas easily understood.…

I believe that the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to create a engaging, supportive and enjoyable learning environment. From my own experience as a student who has received tutoring, I’ve found that students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions and aren’t afraid to make mistakes. Tutoring can be a very…

Inside CamperdownTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 3 student Izzy practiced multiplying decimals by whole numbers and converting between fractions and decimals, also reviewing place value strategies.

In Year 10, Sarah focused on quadratic equations and algebraic skills, alongside poetry analysis of Wilfred Owen using sample English homework tasks.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Liam tackled differentiation techniques—working through turning points on advanced worksheets—and revised logarithms to strengthen calculus foundations.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student's algebra work revealed "neatness of working out" was lacking, which led to difficulty tracking errors during multi-step equations.

In Year 11 biology, the need for clearer note-taking and updating pathways—especially stimulus-response diagrams—was flagged; when these notes were unclear, recalling details in assessments became harder.

Meanwhile, a Year 6 student hesitated to write steps for subtraction problems, even though he could do them mentally ("he needs to be prompted to write down each step of the calculation"). This sometimes left mistakes hidden until review time, costing confidence when corrections were needed under test conditions.

Recent Achievements

One Camperdown tutor noticed a Year 11 student who used to avoid asking questions now regularly requests clarification when she's unsure, especially with tricky chemistry titration steps.

A Year 10 student recently managed to sketch a graph independently involving both horizontal and vertical transitions without relying on the table of values—a skill he previously found intimidating.

In primary sessions, Ryan, who once hesitated with multi-step word problems, has started converting these into equations independently and completed most grade 2-level tasks on his own for the first time.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Newtown Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Newtown North Public School.
