And it's understandable. It can be challenging to connect the concepts to real-life, see how it all relates to their day-to-day. When they're struggling, students tend to give up easily and at some point, they stop trying altogether.
If your child doesn't catch on right away, or maybe they consider chemistry a complete waste of time, it can be hard to convince them otherwise. What we've found is that students react better when it comes from someone who they can relate to.
They react to mentors, someone closer to their age, who shares the same experience. That's why tutors are in a unique position to help a student grow.
That's why great tutoring can make such a big difference.

The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
He could afford to take a few more notes on paper when I'm explaining something and writing it out myself. This would probably be helped if he got a rough-work book only for working out, where he can be as messy as needed and won't feel bad for getting things wrong. Primarily though, he would do well to more frequently back-check his working out, as almost all questions in maths are such that if you make a simple mistake early on, everything else is wrong.

Again, he seems to think he knows most things and completes the work without any troubles. While he does know a lot, accepting and knowing he has room for improvement will help greatly He did identify some of his problem areas this month and they weer targeted which I believe helped. Depth of knowledge - has some trouble applying known formulas and techniques to more complex yet similar questions i.e. Exam style questions.
We are very happy with the tutoring so far. Ben has gained some confidence in the past couple of weeks. Robert is great.. explains things in a way that Ben can easily understand.
Nick has been an outstanding tutor for Brooke. We can't speak highly enough of him and his knowledge and approach.
Miki has been seeing Sachin for over a year. We all think he is brilliant. He is incredibly reliable, highly talented and thoroughly courteous. We could not imagine a better tutor.
