As a student, I am fully aware of social pressures in school whereby a student may not be able to understand a concept completely. As a tutor, if I am able to truly help a student excell in their subject by thoroughly revising topics, and addressing any and all concerns, until they are able to confidently answer questions by themselves, I would…

Just being a support for the student in question. Now, obviously, the first idea to jump to there is academically, and this is super important, of course, but also school is a naturally difficult time for a lot of students for a large variety of reasons, and even if the tutor nor student realize it, being there to help dealing with it is a massive…

The most important things a tutor can do is help students understand that being wrong or not being as fast or as good at studying is not a bad thing. A tutor must go at the students pace, not rush them and be patient as possible. Of course it is important to teach the students what they need but also help them grow and feel comfortable. I am very…

Actually engage and interact with the student to find where, and more importantly why they're struggling or need help. This not only is a short term solution to a single question which may be raised, but is extremely helpful in the long run as their problem solving skills and overall performance improves. Also, make sure the student actually…

One of the most important things tutor can do for a student is provide them with a lot of feedbacks as well as lots of revision. MENTOR/TUTOR It is important that tutors have a friendly approach to students and make sure that students set a goal for every lesson. I would definitely recommend EzyMathTutoring. My son's understanding of maths has increased tremendously. He is happy to do extra work and is taking so much more pride in his mathematics. His grades have improved substantially and he classes maths as one of his favourite subjects. His tutor Stephen is very patient and great at explaining complex concepts. He gives my son a chance to find the answer himself, or asks him the right questions which assist him to find where he is going wrong. All of this has really assisted my son in building confidence in his ability to resolve complex maths problems. Stephen is also always very professional and on time.

Inside CarramarTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Zoe worked through volume and area problems, using diagrams to visualise calculations, and also consolidated her understanding of index laws.

Year 7 student Olivia focused on applying the area model and split technique for multiplication with multi-digit numbers, then practiced short division strategies.

Meanwhile, Year 3 student Jafar explored reading time to the minute and interpreting time phrases, while strengthening his place value skills through partitioning numbers into standard and non-standard forms.

Recent Challenges

In Year 5, Zoe's progress was limited by incomplete homework and frequent distractions—such as turning off her camera or playing with nearby objects—which led to missed practice with times tables and division. "She is easily distracted by her surroundings," a tutor noted after a session on decimals.

Meanwhile, in Year 9 mathematics, Emily rarely completed homework, so formulas for volume and area weren't memorised and working steps were skipped or unclear.

For Jafar (Year 7 English), hesitation and lack of confidence meant he often said "I don't know" before attempting answers, especially when asked to elaborate on his reasoning during persuasive writing.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Carramar noticed that Emily, a high school student, is now able to rapidly solve complex index law questions without hesitation—a big step up from when she'd get stuck applying more than one rule at a time.

Another recent win came from Jafar, who used to avoid asking for help but has started requesting extra thinking time and explaining his reasoning aloud, especially during proofreading exercises.

For a younger learner, Zoe was eager to tackle her maths worksheets independently this week and even worked ahead without prompting—something she hadn't done before.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Fairfield Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Carramar Public School.
