Learning biology is cumulative. Like learning mathematics or other science subjects - it's important to understand the basics before you can tackle complex concepts.
While most students have the right idea on how to approach studying biology, they also need a little push to achieve their goals. We've found that all it takes is the right kind of guidance at the right time.
The local Cashmere biology tutors we work with are there to assist so that passing and excelling at biology doesn't seem like such a hurdle. What we look for is someone who can adjust to your child's needs, who can observe their study habits and guide them through the learning process. So what does that mean exactly?
For instance, most students know they should go over past exams and take notes. What students also sometimes do is fixate on individual questions too much and even try to memorise them. While they know what they should be doing, they might not know how to do it. This is why tutoring is invaluable.
All we need to get things started is to have a chat with you to figure out what your child needs. We organise one-on-one biology tutoring in Cashmere, at your home. There are no extra fees, just a simple hourly rate.
And what if you don't like the tutor? No worries, it happens from time to time and we understand that! That's why the first lesson comes as a risk-free trial.

The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
Sebastian is using the talking aloud strategy which is good and helps with the problem solving process. Workings are also written down which is another strategy that he is applying well. He is learning to back check as it can be easy to make a careless mistake and back checking can prevent that. He knows that it is ok to be wrong so long as he figures out where he went wrong and to learn from mistakes.
Patrick is enthusiastic at each session. He asks questions when in doubt. He shows interest in wanting to learn. He does get distracted sometimes. He gives his best during the sessions. He attempts most questions given as homework and has been getting most questions correct. He is learning to write clearly and legibly. He needs to get used to using a ruler all the time.
Exam technique - Frank noted that he did satisfactorily in a recent exam. The performance was due to exam time limitations where Frank was not able to complete his exam leading to rushed responses to known subject matter. Exam technique is to be reviewed in the coming months to ensure he is able to complete all questions in a timely fashion with spare time to review responses.

We are extremely pleased with Hilario and would be happy to recommend him to anyone. Alison is a bit picky and Maths is a subject she hates but feedback from her has been really positive. She commented this morning that if her school teachers were like him, she wouldn't have been having issues with Maths.
I am really happy with Gabriele and the confidence she is providing the girls in their maths.
Both Amber and myself are very happy with the first two lessons Kamen has given. He has a great way of making Amber at ease with the learning process and we look forward to seeing her maths improve.
