Tutors can make the students to understand the topic from the scratch, so as to make sure the kid is able to solve the problems on its own. In this way, student excels in the class at school, and it helps in boosting up the confidence. A tutor's responsibility includes building a student's confidence by helping them believe in their abilities, and to ensure they develop a deep understanding of concepts, not just memorization. Tailoring the teaching approach to the student's learning style is important for making the material more accessible. Also, creating a safe and supportive…

In my opinion, the most important thing for a tutor is not to teach the subject material in a study session, but to be able to help the student improve his understanding capability so the student can do topics on his own. In my experience, if I was able to help understand some topic to a student, it felt good. But it felt even better, when the…

The most important virtue that I consider for being a tutor for a student is having the patience to understand what they are expecting out of me, in order for me to give them back the necessary skills and training they require to excel in their domain. In addition to this, having a practical approach other than the traditional teaching style is…

First thing which I can assure to all my students is that I'll make them understand the concepts clear so that they can remember and apply it forever in their life. Also I think a good teacher has to teach the subject from a student point of view, so that we can understand where they face problem in understanding the concept and help them to…

I believe that the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is identify each student's individuality and therefore handle them uniquely, with utmost care and understanding. It is also extremely important for the tutor to be aware of verbal or behavioral feedback received from the student, and therefore be able to modify their teaching…

As each student is unique it is important to assess their level of learning, identify the areas where they are lacking and then provide suitable tutoring. While teaching a tutor must implement a teaching plan which suits the student. A tutor must not only look into academics but also the general wellbeing of the student. My excellent communication…

I think the most important things a tutor can do are to build the student’s confidence, make learning less stressful, and explain things in a way that actually makes sense to them. It’s also important to be patient, encouraging, and flexible, every student learns differently, so a tutor should be able to adapt to their needs and help them feel…

This involves adapting the teaching method to the student's learning style and needs, recognising & addressing problems. The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to be patient. Never give up on students. I think the most important thing is to understand the student's cognitive ability and be able to relate to their world. Giving them examples using whatever they're into, for example, cartoons/video games, in order to teach a concept goes a long way. There isn't a bible when it comes to teaching, it's an evolving process, which gets better over…

The tutor should ensure that students are grasping the concepts efficiently. We are very happy with our experience so far. It was simple to arrange and there was no problem finding a tutor available at the time we needed. We chose EzyMath tutoring as it was the only company that didn't send endless texts and emails to get us to sign up. The tutor arrived on time and kept my daughter engaged on maths the entire hour. Although she doesn't love maths (yet) the look of pride on her face after each session has been amazing.

Inside CoburgTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 3 student Ava practised addition and subtraction using a number line, and worked through NAPLAN-style word problems.

In Year 10, Jasmine focused on solving and rearranging algebraic equations as well as revising linear equations in preparation for her test.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Emmanuel explored circular functions—graphing sine and cosine—and tackled trigonometric equations to prepare for his upcoming CAT assessment.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student became overwhelmed when facing unfamiliar algebra problems and tended to freeze rather than attempt different strategies, as noted: "He easily gets overwhelmed when faced with an unfamiliar problem."

In Year 11 calculus, skipping careful reading of questions led to repeated errors during CATs; one tutor observed he "needed to read the question more carefully."

Meanwhile, a primary student working on subtraction sometimes forgot to borrow but quickly improved once reminded.

For a Year 8 student, untidy written work in dividing polynomials meant errors went unnoticed until final checks.

These moments often left students frustrated or second-guessing themselves mid-task.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Coburg recently noticed Emmanuel, a Year 12 student, tackling complex numbers for the first time—a notoriously tricky topic—but he managed to grasp key ideas right away after struggling with similar advanced material last term.

Yvonne, also in high school, has shifted from relying on hints to independently placing angles and finding reference angles on the unit circle during calculus sessions.

Meanwhile, Jett in primary school explained multi-digit subtraction using an algorithm out loud—something he was hesitant to do before—and now confidently checks his own answers without prompting.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Campbell-Turnbull Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Islamic College of Sport.
