To teach them in a way that they are equipped with the knowledge at a good pace for them, while also remaining up to date or a head of schedule. This allows them to have things mastered before their classes, allowing them to spend that time in the most effective way they see fit. My strengths as a tutor are the ability to lead a student to an…

I think the most important things a tutor can do for a student is be there at all times; whether it’s before or after a SAC, it is very important to provide them with various resources including practice SACs or exams so they are able to be prepared. Also to be able to reflect on mistakes and help them learn and reinforce their learning so the…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is simply be open to answer any questions a student might have. They need to be able to grasp the entire concept so that it can be applied in their school work. My strengths as a tutor could be my patience and my willingness to go out of my way to help any student I can. I think I also have a…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to understand their students and the way they learn! This means bringing up different approaches to studying if one does not work for the student and ensuring that they are listened to and supported at all time! Tutors should not shame their students and work on more than just achieving…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student is to assist them to create and meet their personal academic goals, rather than just working on higher grades. This can also include a tutor sharing academic experiences in achieving their goals to allow a student to see if the tutor is right for their specific circumstance. I think the…

A tutor must be able to align and communicate with both the parents and student to reach on the same goal desired and have the ability to change their learning styles (verbal, written, visual etc) to help meet the student's needs and goal for their studies. The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is build their confidence and foster independence. This would mean not just relaying basic answers but honing their skills to allow them to think and teach a solution by themselves because that is what will ultimately aid them the most when it comes to testing their academic knowledge. I…

I think the most important thing as a tutor is really understanding the student — meeting them where they are, being patient, and explaining things in a way that makes sense for them. It’s not just about knowing the material, it’s about making them feel comfortable enough to ask questions and confident enough to keep trying. I think my best…

Adapting to change is one of the most important things that a tutor can do for a student. One of the most important things a tutor can do is put love for a subject in a student. Make them understand that studies aren't a pain and that education can be fun and fulfilling as well. I think the most important things a tutor can do are to build confidence, provide clarity, and guide students strategically. A good tutor helps students truly understand content rather than just memorise it, showing them how to think, structure responses, and approach exams with purpose. Just as importantly, a tutor should create a supportive…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to guide them towards a position of personal and academic growth. Irrespective of whether the students growth is minuscule or large, any sort of development should be rewarded. Inside EumemmerringTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 11 student Amber focused on **Unit 3 Biology**, beginning with biomacromolecules and moving towards nucleic acids and gene expression using detailed notes and practice questions.

In Year 8, John worked through computation with integers for an upcoming test, then started geometry topics such as angles and properties of lines by solving problems from a worksheet.

Meanwhile, Year 7 student Mia was introduced to algebra, practicing **adding and subtracting like terms** as well as expanding brackets through targeted exercises to build foundational understanding.

Recent Challenges

A Year 12 Chemistry student did not have time to cover enzyme denaturation in detail, meaning crucial content will need to be revisited—missing out on this left the student "uncertain about the chemical processes behind reactions."

In Year 11 English, incomplete homework ("had a week to complete one essay, only wrote introduction and one body paragraph") prevented full feedback and practice with linking evidence to themes.

For a Year 8 Maths student, over-reliance on rushing through multiple-choice questions led to skipped working and repeated computation errors: "Tends to rush instead of carefully working through solutions," noted the tutor, which meant negative numbers were often mishandled.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Eumemmerring recently saw a Year 11 biology student who had previously struggled with transcription begin taking thorough notes and confidently answering questions about gene expression—she now tackles base pairing without hesitation.

Meanwhile, a Year 9 maths student who often felt overwhelmed by negative numbers managed to independently solve order of operations problems by the end of the session, after working through targeted strategies.

In primary years, one student who rarely read aloud before is now reading entire passages during lessons without being prompted, showing much more willingness to engage with texts.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Doveton Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Hallam Primary School.
