Being supportive for a student no matter what the situation is. Creating a realistic goal and achievement for the student and working together to strive towards that. Teaching a student through hands on activities and hands on work rather than a sheet of paper and assignment. Persistent but not pushy. Dedicated person putting in all my strength…

successfully creating a familiar and fun learning environment for students is the most critical and most important task at the same time for a tutor. This is the most important consideration. I believe that any fundamentals of science and mathematics can be easily understood if they are taught with practical and real life examples. So I always…

I think the most important thing that a tutor can do for a student is to have them gain confidence with themselves in terms of excelling in school. I think this confidence is important in not just getting high marks in quizzes and tests, but I believe that being confident will help them long-term in solving problems not just in school, even though…

The most important role of a tutor is to transform a student’s mindset. Beyond teaching content, I aim to impart a genuine passion for the subject and build the self-belief that they are capable of mastering it. When a student stops saying 'I can't do this' and starts asking 'How do I solve this?', that is real success. As an Engineering Masters…

Teach them how to think for themselves and how to be critical of any situation so that they may find answers on their own. Teach them that values are more important than success in life. Educate them to be all-rounders. Give them hope, encourage them and not allow failure to bring them down lest they may falter into the wrong path. I was…

I believe that the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to create and maintain a safe and nurturing environment where the student is free to make and learn from their mistakes and are not afraid to ask for assistance when he/she needs additional help with the concept being taught. Therefore, this will be the environment that I will…

As a tutor it is my responsibility to make sure the student understands and grasps the concept of the lesson. I am student myself so I know the struggles and the laziness that comes with having to study. I think a tutor should not just focus on studying but also make the study environment a little relaxed and enjoyable as it is hard to concentrate…

For the student to be able to see me as someone he/she can rely upon. I say this because I was not very good at mathematics but when I had a tutor at the start of year 8, she was always friendly and made it very easy to talk to her. Being active when students are in need the most, answering questions as students ask them. It is important to ensure the student feels completely fine to express themselves and ask tutors any questions they may have, during and after the lesson. One of my tutors in Year 12 told us that confidence is the most important thing a student can have. This has proven to be true in my experience. The most important things a tutor can do for a student are: 1. Build Confidence: Encouraging students and celebrating progress helps them believe in their abilities and approach learning with a growth mindset. 2. Adapt to Their Learning Style : Every student learns differently. A good tutor tailors their approach to match the student's…

I believe making a student become confident in their own ability is very important. Students sometimes have doubts themselves and I believe I can encourage them to be confident and actually enjoy learning. Inside Fairfield EastTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Jayden worked on understanding equivalent fractions using area models and practiced writing fractions in lowest terms.

For Year 9, Emma tackled solving linear equations and explored graphing techniques to find intercepts and gradients.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Sarah focused on bivariate data by interpreting scatter plots and calculating lines of best fit, including use of the regression equation for predictions.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student relied heavily on their calculator for simple mental arithmetic, which slowed down problem-solving in algebra tasks—she reached for the calculator even with single-digit numbers.

In Year 10, one learner's written working was often unclear, especially when tackling complex surd and indices problems; as a tutor observed, messy layout made it hard to spot where errors crept in.

Meanwhile, a Year 6 student avoided communicating confusion and sometimes copied previous answers instead of asking questions.

During timed assessments in Year 11, anxiety led to panicked rushing and missed checks, resulting in repeated mistakes that went unnoticed.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Fairfield East noticed one Year 10 student, who previously hesitated to use her calculator, now reaches for it independently and checks her working on harder algebra problems without prompting.

In a recent session with a Year 11 student, there was a marked shift: after consistently making errors on probability homework last term, he's now completing similar tasks with correct answers and explains his reasoning out loud as he goes.

Meanwhile, a younger primary student who used to guess when confused about fractions has started speaking up clearly whenever something doesn't make sense—last week he asked for help before attempting the next problem instead of guessing.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Fairfield Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Yennora Public School.
