To provide useful problem-solving tips that students can easily pick up and apply. 3. Continuously give students sense of achievements by helping them…

make sure the tutors are patient and goes on a pace that is comfortable for the student. the most important thing to consider as a tutor is that each student is different and has their own way of learning, and its our job to understand and match their skillset, not the other way around. I am patient and my main focus is on building fundamentals,…

Resilience after drawbacks. A good tutor should not only provide one or two solutions limited to a single issue, but also help students establish confidence and motivation, and achieve their goals through dedicated efforts. Being able to explain contents in various ways and relate concepts to tangible life experiences; being able to put myself on…

Improving the confidence of the student is key. The student should evolve to have more trust in themselves and their abilities and be able to apply this. The most important thing I could do for the student is to help them achieve their own personal best and be motivated to achieve. I am a good listener. I apply this to pinpointing the key areas…

I believe it is important for a tutor to always take time to properly understand problems that a student could be having with whatever they are trying to understand and consider the best ways to help the student to understand the question in a way that works well with the student's learning. I am patient and willing to take the time to work…

I think a tutor shoul really care about the student and be looking out for them. I think I am very patient and can explain things in a variety of persepectives and provide relevant examples to a wide range of different…

Great communication and really understanding the students way of learning. Whether it is visually or through notes, the tutor should be able to adapt the way he teaches based on the students capabilities and understanding. Also the ability to not make class boring or a drag, because the student is then uninterested and bored, which hinders their…

I think one of the most important things a tutor can bring to their student is support. Often students who hire a tutor usually have some pressures concerning the subject; either it is a subject they are struggling in and require more time to grasp key concepts or they are looking to excel. In both cases, it is important that the tutor not only…

A good tutor aims to develop a student who no longer needs aid, so they inculcate executive study abilities that will benefit the student both academically and in life. Being a great student requires skills such as organisation, task initiation, attention, and time management. To develop confident, self-sufficient learners, tutors should focus on…

Simply put, identify the gaps in knowledge that are preventing a student from understanding and mastering a concept and thus targeting them. Instead of getting students to memories how to answer certain question, teach them the process of answering a question. Why we do this and why this gets us the answer. I believe my strengths are specifically…

As a tutor, the most integral thing for a student to succeed is their interest in studying. Unless a student does not want to learn and succeed, they cannot achieve this, so it is important for tutors to inspire and encourage students during sessions. Explaining concepts to students, listening to students, and making classes fun through enthusiasm…

Be available when the student needs it and care about the student's goals as much or more than the student. A tutor should be dedicated to his job, which is to facilitate his student to learn things in a easy and practical manner. Learning should not be boring, instead should be fun. The most important and primary action that a tutor needs to do is to know his/her student as it elicits the tutor a good background about the student strenghts and weaknesses. This factor leads the tutor to construct an study method that is personalised and programmed based on the given student, this manifest in a more efficient and high quality…

From the perspective of a past student who's worked with tutors. I've found the best environment to learn is one that feels inviting and open to questions. I hope I can build such an environment where students do not feel worried about asking questions or use me as a resource to aid their learning. Furthermore, I think it's paramount that a tutor…

Quickly connected me with a tutor in my area for my son in year 11 Maths methods. The tutor (Dylan) is great, very knowledgable, and really takes the time to work with my son on his problem areas. Our school schedule is changing all the time and Dylan has been very accommodating when we have had to move times, which has been a big relief. I've also been getting great feedback from EzyMath and my tutor on my sons progress, which has helped me to understand how to support him with homework better too. I definitely recommend EzyMath to anyone looking for a tutor!

Inside Ferntree GullyTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Chloe focused on mastering fraction operations and converting between improper and mixed fractions, using number lines to build confidence.

For Year 8, Noah worked through linear relations—plotting equations and interpreting gradients—as well as algebraic expansion and factorisation.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Ava tackled the turning point form of parabolic graphs alongside basic trigonometry concepts, practising with diagrams to visualise problems.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 English, one student repeatedly submitted homework late or incomplete; as noted, "there have been multiple times that he has not completed his homework on time," making it difficult to build consistent essay-writing skills.

During Year 10 Maths revision, another student relied heavily on familiar techniques and hesitated when asked to apply concepts in new ways—this slowed problem-solving and reduced confidence under test conditions.

In Year 3, a student's multiplication work was often unfinished, with skipped practice on timetables leading to slower progress when tackling multi-step problems.

These moments left students feeling unprepared and hesitant during class discussions.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Ferntree Gully noticed one Year 11 student, who used to rely heavily on hints, now confidently completes trigonometry problems without a calculator and can explain her steps out loud.

In Year 9, another student made a real shift: after weeks of silent guessing, she has begun raising her hand for help whenever she gets stuck on linear equations—asking for help rather than moving on confused.

Meanwhile, during a recent primary session, a younger student who'd struggled with fractions earlier in the term managed to solve mixed-number addition independently for the first time.
