The most important thing a tutor can do is to create an environment where the student can learn at their own pace and also feel free to ask questions. I am very friendly and approachable. My students always feel free to be themselves around me. I also do not use jargon, and try to explain concepts using the simplest words possible. I make the…

In my high school days, i went to alot of tutors and i learned the difference between a good and a bad tutor. Bad tutors i believe stay within the box, afraid to go out and expose the students true potential. A good tutor can not only help the student keep on track of school work and assist in any difficulties the student may have, but also push…

From my previous experience teaching a lot of students. The most vital point the student wants from their mentor is compassion and sympathy to connect with them. Once I can connect with them, I can understand at what level they are currently in and use the best method to help them strive to the best possible level they can achieve for the given…

As a tutor, my students are encouraged to ask questions without hesitation. Such a mentality can be applied to other facets of life, as critical thinking and a passion for learning are valuable skills to develop in general. I believe every student has the potential to become their best self. In addition to providing emotional support, I believe tutors should actively support students' dreams by helping them set clear and achievable goals. For example, the SMART technique allows students to track their progress, which promotes independence and self-directed learning.…

The most important thing is to gain a core understanding of the topic, and not just a surface level rote learning of how to solve problems. It's also important to have an understanding of each student and to recognise when to push them and when they've hit a wall (mentally). I think my greatest strength is my approachability and flexibility. I do…

Inspire students to take charge of their academic future and career as well as strive to be the best version of themselves. Listening and…

Every student is different, and I think the most important thing a tutor can do is recognise that and adapt accordingly. What works for one student might not work for another, so taking the time to understand how someone learns — whether they need visual explanations, step-by-step breakdowns, or just more practice — makes all the…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to provide personalised support. Every student is unique, with individual learning styles, strengths, and challenges. I think the most important thing a tutor can do is make an overall postive impact. Just being an academic support for a student who is struggling can create impacts more meaningful than grades or results. Helping them change their attitude towards learning is the kind of positive change that lasts beyond the classroom. I am a really positive and…

I believe the most important thing is to be well-prepared ahead of the session and have good knowledge of the subject. This will also…

I think that one of the important things a tutor can do for a student is to first understand how much the student already knows and where they are struggling. This helps the tutor guide the step-by step to improve their understanding of each topic. Another important thing is patience because learning takes time, and it a calm and encouraging…

A tutor can assist student in understanding the concepts more clearly and a tutor can mold a student's focus on the subject. Inside GlenroyTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Mia focused on linear equations and simultaneous equations, including tackling worded problems step-by-step.

Year 10 student Daniel practiced structuring and writing oral presentations in preparation for an upcoming assessment, using example prompts to build confidence.

For primary support, Year 4 student Emily worked through addition and subtraction with four-digit numbers as well as identifying and describing 3-D shapes, using diagrams to reinforce understanding.

Recent Challenges

Incomplete homework was a recurring issue in both upper primary and high school students.

For example, one Year 7 student repeatedly left English essays unfinished despite a signed contract—this resulted in missed opportunities for feedback and impacted his spelling test performance, as "most of the spelling words are taken from his homework."

In senior years, a student preparing for public speaking assignments neglected to complete assigned drafts, leading to less confidence during oral presentations.

A Year 6 maths student's messy layout—"he struggled aligning sums, which caused mistakes"—meant extra time spent correcting basic errors instead of advancing to more complex problems.

Recent Achievements

A Glenroy tutor recently noticed a Year 9 student who used to hesitate when tackling worded maths problems now confidently translates them into equations and solves them with much less prompting.

In Year 7 English, one student who previously struggled with structuring essays has begun planning their arguments independently and linking ideas between class and tutoring sessions.

Meanwhile, a younger student in Year 4 was initially hard on himself for spelling errors but is now more accepting of mistakes during tests, showing resilience by quickly moving on and finishing all questions without dwelling on previous slip-ups.
