I believe the key roles of a tutor are to create a safe and supportive learning environment, understand each student’s strengths and weaknesses, explain concepts in a way that makes sense to them, and help them build study skills and confidence that go beyond the subject at hand. I am patient, adaptable and communicate clearly. I can break down…

As a tutor the most we can do for is a student is to encourage them to not just learn what's in the book but also to understand the concepts with a greater depth. The other thing that tutor can do for a student to maximise their educational growth is to try and make them understand the points where they are wrong and not just to do their work for…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to believe in them. Students already have bounds of pressure heaped on them, academic, parental, administrative, personal, etc. and sometimes all it takes is one Calculus question to bring them to their wit's end. A tutor must support their students throughout their learning journey and…

For me, one of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is interaction. As interactive the session will be, more output will one get from their students. A tutor should be strict about discipline but at the same time friendly and lenient understanding students problem. He should be available on phone all the time for his students during the exam period. Also, the tutor has to get some real-life problems and repeat the same basic concepts repeatedly so that the student memorises it for a long time.…

Local Reviews

My son is an A grade student & very particular about his learning needs & he knows what works for him. In fact, Luke is so proactive, he found Ezy Math himself. He's had tutors before but none have met his needs entirely. Few teachers measure up to his expectations, but Leonardo was AWESOME! Despite a very poor test result a week earlier, Luke was beaming with excitement & pride as the tutor was able to quickly hone in on the missing pieces & in only an hour his bad test result made sense. The look on his face was priceless when he was confident the tutor totally understood his particular needs & his test the next day would be much better. We will be sticking with Ezy Math for good. Cannot rave enough about it!

Inside Green FieldsTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Tom worked on reading analogue clocks and practiced addition with both two- and three-digit numbers.

Year 10 student Leticia focused on starting her maths investigation, brainstorming ideas before settling on comparing the money earned by Dr Seuss and Roald Dahl.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Alexis covered content on neurons and glucose regulation, using targeted booklets to address some gaps from missed lessons.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8, one student hesitated to ask questions during assignment work, leading to gaps in understanding that lingered beneath the surface. As noted by a tutor, "she relied on verbal prompts for each step," which limited her independence when tackling new maths problems.

Meanwhile, a Year 11 student struggled with confidence and often avoided attempting exam-style questions unless guided; cue cards meant to boost recall remained unfinished, leaving her unable to break down unfamiliar permutations without heavy reliance on notes.

In senior Physics (Year 12), messy working—such as forgetting units or failing to clearly list known values—resulted in lost marks on calculation-heavy tasks.

Recent Achievements

A Green Fields tutor noticed that a Year 10 student who used to freeze up at the sight of multi-step exam questions now breaks them down herself, pinpointing what she knows and working through tricky parts instead of skipping them.

Another win came from a senior student who had struggled with linking "completing the square" to graphing but, after some targeted practice, could solve and explain those problems independently by the end of the session.

Meanwhile, in primary years, one student who would rush through addition and forget carried numbers now slows down and checks her work before moving on.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Mawson Lakes Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Garden College.
