She is fantastic! It was amazing to see the calming influence she had on Max as she patiently stepped him through learning maths. She is astute and quickly understood his capabilities and suggested to me simple steps for how we can focus on bringing him up to speed. I'm delighted.

Inside HamiltonTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Bella focused on adding and subtracting mixed numbers and converting improper fractions, while also revisiting perimeter and area of rectangles to prepare for upcoming assessments.

In Year 9, Josh tackled simultaneous equations and the quadratic equation, using worked examples to solidify his algebraic reasoning.

For Year 10, Ava concentrated on applying the Sine and Cosine Rules in trigonometry and practiced solving geometry problems involving non-right-angled triangles.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8, a student often forgot to write all working for fraction and algebra questions; as noted, "forgets to write all working which in turn causes some error." This habit led to mistakes that could have been caught with clearer layout.

A Year 11 student struggled to use feedback from draft notes when revising an assignment—small errors persisted because changes weren't always implemented.

In senior maths, another hesitated on unfamiliar real-world problems, sticking to familiar question types rather than tackling new ones. After setbacks in exam practice, motivation dipped, slowing progress through revision tasks.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Hamilton recently noticed a Year 11 student who previously relied heavily on step-by-step guidance during algebra sessions now independently tackled quadratic equations, checking their work without prompting.

In Year 9 maths, another student who used to rush through long division is now pausing to check each answer and corrects mistakes before moving on, showing much more care with their working out.

Meanwhile, a primary school student who was hesitant with word problems last term has begun breaking them down methodically and can now explain their reasoning out loud while setting up the solutions for area and perimeter questions.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Hamilton Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Ascot State School.
