We have all had the experience of a "bad teacher" and we know it's not pleasant. Often the teacher is simply a bad match for that particular student rather than being a "bad teacher" in general but in either case the student has a serious problem. This is why many parents contact us for a private tutor - their child just can't "get it" when their teacher is teaching. It's incredible how one explanation results in more confusion whereas another results in that "aha" feeling we all love so much! It is really a matter of getting the "right" tutor and not the "best" one. We see this every day in our work. A tutor might have hundreds of hours of experience and might have received dozens of testimonials from students, however, even such a tutor doesn't click with all students. Every tutor gets bad feedback sometimes. It's all about getting the right fit and this is what we do!

The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
Mia is doing an excellent job with picking up necessary note taking strategies, such as highlighting, noting and problem formatting. Problem solving skills is a big gap for Mia however I see gradual improvement in this area. Like many skills, all it takes is time, effort and consistency. I have no doubt that over time Mia will begin to grow confidence and solve problems independently.
Bridgette is an energetic and eager to improve in Maths. She only needs to optimally invest in time, more problem-solving, and being ahead of her class to enhance her confidence and independency.
We've also been working on other areas of maths, but with maths at school not officially starting yet, it's been a little slow, and focused on the basics, which Alex has been handling very well, and means that we are filling in any gaps that may exist.
Thank you so much for your assistance in finding a suitable tutor for Taj. We have recommended your services to a number of our friends.
Keira is very happy with Mandy and they seem to be working well together. Mandy is lovely and very keen and organised. I am sure we will continue to see an improvement with Keira's results.
The tutoring with Shamir has been great so far. Tyler is very happy with him and we can only look forward to an increase in Tyler's results through hard work and dedication. Shamir appears very dedicated to helping Tyler, which really shows through. We are very happy with him so far.
