I consider not only to boost the student's academic performance but also developing self-confidence of the student are the most essential things a tutor can do for a student. Specifically, a tutor would be able to personalize the concepts and lessons by connecting them with real-life experiences. Moreover, a tutor is likened to be as additional…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is lead them to an open door we have previously crossed from our past experience so they have the ability to enter with their own confidence and hopefully pass on that knowledge to future generations. My strenghts for me as a tutor would be my orgainsational skills which help me and student…

I believe that since every student is different in the way they think and learn, it is important for a tutor to establish a connection and relationship with their students so the tutor can better understand the students habits. This would allow the tutor to better tailor their lessons towards the student so they learn and understand better. I have…

I strongly believe that tutors should create a safe and encouraging environment for their students by being kind and respectful as I know that trying improve in a weak subject can be very intimidating, and fear can prevent students from learning. Hence I also strongly believe that tutors should pay close attention to their students strengths and…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student is, emphasize the importance of practicing questions. Also ensure that the way they teach concepts is understandable and thorough. Making sure the student is open about their weaknesses and share any concerns they have about the material (most kids are shy when it comes to difficult concepts).…

Every student has his own mind, not everyone has the ability to catch up with the content of the lecture/course. It's important for every tutor to find students who are facing problems in classrooms and make them feel they too have the ability to be successful in the course. Whenever a student feels he won't be able to succeed its every tutor's…

Self esteem. When a student can solve maths problem and they comprehend the concept behind it, it gives them confidence that they could do anything. Confidence is an important factor in maximizing the potential of an individual. I think most students right now approach solvining maths problem in a very mechanical way. Meaning , they memorize the…

Most importantly a tutor needs to have empathy for his or her students. Being able to take them on a journey of learning and fun so they become more and more curious and are able to learn through keen interest and out of the box thinking is what a tutor should do for students. I would consider patience, kindness, logical thinking and being able to…

I believe the most important things a tutor can do for a student is listen and understand what issues they are facing with the work, whether it is not understanding/visualising the concept correctly, or just struggling to follow or understand the steps taken in order to solve the question. I think the tutor should give the student lessons and skills that they can carry over to other subjects and outside the classroom, making them more confident in any environment they are in. In addition to helping them recognise that they are making progress and that it is a result of their hard work and dedication. I think my flexibility and my…

Understand the feelings and character of different students. Some students who tutor may be gifted, however there are many also who may are demotivated and have a low-self esteem which causes them to believe they aren't good enough to excel. I believe tutors should change the perspective from studying from an extrinsic desire, for instance, marks…

The most important thing I’ve learned from my experience as a student receiving tutoring is that real understanding matters more than memorising steps. When something is explained clearly and in a way that matches how I learn, it becomes much easier to actually grasp the concept rather than just remember it for a short time. I’ve also…

We signed up with a tutor who didn't work out and the EzyMath team worked hard to find us a new one as fast a possible. Their communication during the process was great and they kept me informed about how they were going to find the right tutor for my child.
Kim, Kellyville

Inside KellyvilleTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Sofia focused on indices, scientific notation, and significant figures, as well as financial maths applications through targeted textbook problems.

In Year 9, Riaan worked on factorising and expanding quadratics and deepened his understanding of trigonometric functions by applying them to worded problems and geometry questions.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Olivia practised calculating the distance and midpoint of a line segment and explored bivariate data concepts including correlation and constructing frequency histograms.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8 algebra, one student's written work lacked clear structure, making it difficult to spot errors in factorising non-monic quadratics—he skipped showing steps in expanding (a-b)², which hid sign mistakes.

For a Year 10 student revising for exams, revision focused mainly on familiar index laws while harder questions were left undone; this meant the leap to complex surds and log rules was unsteady.

Meanwhile, in Year 6 English, a strong plan didn't translate into organised paragraphs when writing independently, with ideas drifting off-topic. The hesitation led to frustration as completed drafts felt disconnected from initial outlines.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Kellyville recently saw Keenan achieve a big turnaround: after previously lower marks, he scored 80 and 76 percent in his latest exams, showing much stronger understanding and fewer "silly mistakes."

In Year 10 maths, one student who used to get stuck on harder quadratic equations can now solve them confidently—even using the quadratic formula independently. Meanwhile, a primary student who often rushed through writing tasks began noticing and correcting spelling errors on his own as he wrote, instead of waiting for feedback—he even caught himself before handing work in.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Stanhope Garden Library/ Dennis Johnson Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Kellyville Public School.
