I believe that a tutor's primary responsibility is to assist students in understanding and accepting new ideas and concepts through well-planned classes and by responding to any queries they may have. It's crucial to listen to the kids since it allows you to get to know them better and identify any misconceptions they may have. First off, math is…

I will provide a structured approach to teaching these methods and support them as they put them into action. I am a calm and patient tutor who is passionate…

A tutor can guide the student onto the right path in leanring. It's not about giving them the asnwer direclty. The most important things a tutor can do for a student is to build confidence and self-esteem. Often, people feel discouraged or left out when unable to keep up with their class. They become withdrawn and tend not to believe in their capabilities. By teaching a student challenging topics, I am simultaneously quelling all notions of…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student are to simplify difficult concepts, to allow them to make mistakes, and to teach them to do a task independently. Once a tutor identifies what a student struggles with, the tutor must help the student make sense of the concept. Aside from this, the tutor must make the student feel safe when it…

Since the tutor acts as a role model for the student, the most important thing a tutor can do is to take this opportunity to act as a mentor. By taking this role on board, the dynamic increases and the tutor can effectively teach. My greatest strength is patience and empathy. I have noticed the smartest tutors are not the best tutors. Poor tutors…

From what I have been taught from my previous teacher, I believe that the most important thing for a tutor is their professional job ethnics. It means that a tutor needs to provide students with accurate knowledge and full effort to help students truly understand and solve the puzzle easily. What a tutor teaches needs to be revised to examine…

Help them grasp the fundamentals of maths, not just the methods of reaching an answer. To me, the most important things a tutor can do for a student are to be firm but patient, and to allow them to solve problems/formulate ideas themselves, not just be fed information to rote-learn. Inside KensingtonTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Olivia worked on mean, median and mode calculations as well as interpreting graphs.

In Year 10, Ethan practised non-right angled trigonometry using the sine rule and cosine rule.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Liam focused on basic trigonometry and explored normal distribution, including understanding its key properties and uses.

Recent Challenges

A Year 7 student often worked out maths in their head instead of writing steps, which made it harder to spot where misunderstandings with algebra or negative signs occurred—he skipped showing steps in algebra, which hid sign errors.

In Year 11 Physics, a student froze when unsure how to start a question and needed guidance breaking down what was being asked; missing definitions slowed progress.

A senior Chemistry student relied heavily on checking notes for formulas rather than recalling them independently, leading to lost time during problem-solving.

Nerves in impromptu speeches (Year 10 English) led to rushed delivery and forgotten structure.

Recent Achievements

One Kensington tutor noted a high school student who previously hesitated to speak up now talks through his problem-solving process out loud and actively asks questions when stuck, rather than staying quiet.

Another secondary student showed new independence by checking over each maths problem and explaining their reasoning step-by-step—something he'd avoided before.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner, after struggling with fractions last term, has started converting mixed numbers independently and can now solve most ratio problems solo.

Last week, one completed all ten practice questions without needing any hints from the tutor.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Randwick Branch Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Coogee Boys' Preparatory School.
