What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I’ve always loved studying, and honestly, teaching was just something that naturally came with it. I’ve grown up learning by helping people around me — friends, classmates, even strangers sometimes. What I enjoy most is that moment when something finally makes sense to the other person. You can literally see it on their face. As someone who’s super curious, I also love seeing how differently people think. Everyone has their own way of understanding things, and figuring that out is something I really enjoy. Plus, when someone starts feeling more confident because of your help — that just makes
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Honestly, I think one of my biggest strengths is that I’ve just been through it — I’m still a student myself, so I really get how it feels to be on the other side. I know what kind of explanations actually help, what makes things more confusing, and how students want to be spoken to. Plus, having studied under different boards and curriculums, I’ve seen how the same topic can be taught in completely different ways — so I’ve kind of picked up how to switch styles depending on who I’m helping. And I guess the most important thing is that I listen. I don’t jump in with answers — I try to actually
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
For me, the most important thing a tutor can do is help the student feel more confident — not just with the subject, but in themselves. I think we sometimes forget how big of a difference it makes when someone believes they can actually do it. I really try to celebrate the small wins — whether they’ve just understood a tough concept or even just tried a bit harder than usual, because that stuff matters. When I think about the teachers who stood out for me, they were always the ones who made sure I left feeling a little more sure of myself each time. That kind of learning sticks — when you walk

Why I Got Into Tutoring
I’ve always enjoyed studying, but more than that, I’ve enjoyed explaining things to people. I grew up helping friends and classmates understand concepts, and over time I realised that teaching just came naturally to me. I don’t think you need to be a professional teacher to be a good tutor — you just need to genuinely care and be curious. As someone with ADHD, I’ve had to figure out how to make studying work for my brain instead of against it, so I’ve picked up a lot of strategies that help different types of learners. It’s also taught me patience and how to adapt quickly when someone learns in a way that’s different from mine
What I’ve Done So Far
Back in school, I led peer tutoring sessions and often helped my juniors with Maths and Science — especially during exam time. I also helped a few students prepare for the International Science and Maths Olympiads. Now I’m at UNSW, studying Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering. That’s given me an even stronger base in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Maths, and I love being able to simplify tricky concepts in a way that actually clicks. Most of the students I’ve worked with say I break things down in a way that’s easier to relate to and less overwhelming.
