I believe that an important thing to consider is empathy and encouragement, as students often look up to their tutors for advice, validation and knowledge. Another significant thing a tutor can do for a student is provide them with plenty of practice questions and worksheets, especially for mathematics, practice questions allow certain concepts to…

For me the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to provide them with the maximum support and help they can offer. More importantly, a tutor is successful when their students succeed and achieve their goals and therefore the most important role of a tutor is to be the individual that guides them to that success. I consider myself to…

A tutor frames the way the students learn different things. As being experienced studying the same things, he/she can make the pathway of learning quite easier for the students. A tutor can be a friend and at the same time motivate students and teach them how to stay motivated. Not only this, a tutor can change the life of students by sharing…

I think the most important things a tutor can do are to make the student feel understood, build their confidence, and explain concepts in a way that truly makes sense to them. As someone who is still a student myself, I know how overwhelming things can get, so I try to create a comfortable space where they are not afraid to ask questions or make…

As stated, giving the correct guidance and the motivation for the correct way to study is extremely important. As is well knwon, we can walk a horse to the water but cannot make him drink it, similarly giving the syllabus content and teaching the subject is important, however, the most important part it to mame sure the student knows in the first…

I think the most important thing is making the student believe they are capable of learning, before anything else. A lot of students arrive at tutoring already convinced they're 'just bad at maths' or that everyone else gets it except them. The first job of a tutor is to break down that belief. That means reassuring them there is no rush, that…

A tutor should create a supportive and non-judgmental environment, encourage curiosity, and help students develop independent learning skills. Building trust and confidence is just as important as explaining the subject matter. I am patient, approachable, and able to explain complex concepts in a simple and relatable way. In my opinion, tutor must be patient and understanding towards a student. This allows the student to feel more comfortable with the tutor, which allows them to easily tell the tutor any troubles that they're having with their studies. A tutor should also have empathy and be a good listener for the student. Moreover, the tutor should also be…

In my opinion, the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to break a concept down to its simplest form. In my school days, I often found this to be the easiest way to learn. If your basic foundation of any concept is strong, it gets much easier to build on that and learn more complex information pertaining to it. Moreover, being…

Inside LangfordTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student David worked through probability concepts including measures of spread and interpreting Venn diagrams, focusing on how to approach class test questions.

In Year 8, Molly reviewed algebraic equations and practiced constructing short answer responses in English for greater clarity.

For Year 9, Lucy explored scientific concepts around sound waves and reinforced her understanding of indices and unit measurements using real-world examples to build connections across subjects.

Recent Challenges

Several high school students have struggled with backchecking their math work, leading to repeated "silly mistakes" in areas like indices and composite solids.

One Year 10 note stated, "she needs to focus more on understanding the content in light waves (science)."

In English, a senior student needed guidance to improve grammar and flow in essay writing, sometimes avoiding complex sentence structures due to uncertainty.

In Year 7 mathematics, a student frequently forgot to convert units or check answers against formula sheets, resulting in avoidable errors.

Incomplete homework across primary levels meant gaps persisted and key skills weren't reinforced between sessions.

Recent Achievements

One Langford tutor recently noticed a Year 9 student who used to guess at algebra problems now drawing diagrams to map out questions and confidently solving for x, showing real initiative in tackling tricky equations.

In another high school session, a student who'd struggled with analysing visual texts was able to break down images and discuss their meaning without prompting, reflecting new independence in English.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student who previously hesitated on her own began completing area and perimeter tasks solo, finishing all assigned questions without asking for help even once.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Thornlie Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Al-Ameen College.
