Personal connection would be my important factor in tutoring, having a good basic relationship and being able to build upon that will make communicating to the student much easier. I believe that there is often a barrier between teachers and students in a school system and sometimes that barrier may affect an individual student, it transforms into…

The most important outcome of tutoring is for students to receive learning skills catered to their individual needs. Building a foundation of work ethic and problem solving which will continue to serve them throughout their education. I believe that I create a comfortable environment for a student to learn. I think it is very important for a tutor to help his students gain confidence mentally on the subject. it is also equally important to try and develop the fundamentals and concepts in the minds of his students in the best way he can. understanding the perspective of the student properly and help him de-bug his own methods before presenting our…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do is support and mentor a student, not just teach the content. That means creating a safe, encouraging space where they feel comfortable asking questions, building their confidence, and being guided. A good tutor also helps students develop better study habits and self-belief, setting them up for…

Building their confidence first. A student who believes they can improve will put in the effort. Beyond that, teach them how to think through problems independently so they don't need you forever. And really listen to where they're struggling because what a student says they don't understand and what they actually don't understand are often two…

A tutor needs to be patient and build a healthy learning curve. One of the most important things for a tutor is to be encouraging and positive. Negativity can lead to resentment towards a subject and deflect the student from making a genuine effort to learn. A tutor also needs to be well-versed with the material so they can teach the student as…

Someone once told me a great teacher is not a messiah but a guide. As a tutor, I do not gift my mentees the treasure of knowledge but rather act as a guide toward achieving them. I believe the most important thing that a tutor can do for their students in the limited time that they have is to show them how to study on their own and succeed even…

I also…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to believe in them and remind them of their potential. It is also necessary to give students personalised advice to ensure they target their time and energy in the right tasks, especially in…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do is build a student's confidence and make learning feel approachable. When students feel supported and understood, they're far more likely to engage, ask questions, and take risks, which is where real growth happens! The tutor must understand the student. Some students try really hard to learn but may fail to show successful results. The tutor must understand this, assure the student that he/she is making progress, and guide the student every inch of the way. Second, the tutor must consider the pursuits of the students as his/her own personal endeavor as…

To me, the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to foster a transformative journey of self-discovery and empowerment. Beyond just imparting knowledge, I believe that a tutor's role is to serve as a guide, mentor, and cheerleader rolled into one. Firstly, it's crucial to create a safe and supportive environment where students…

Efficient, personalised and great value. We had an awesome experience in 2022 and EzyMath have come to the party again this year with an equally good tutor!
Simon Rudd, Leichhardt

Inside LeichhardtTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Zoe focused on two-digit multiplication and basic short division, then practised converting improper fractions to mixed numerals and adding fractions with the same denominators.

In Year 7, Ethan worked through solving one- and two-step linear equations and revised Pythagoras' theorem using right-angled triangle problems.

Meanwhile, Year 8 student Lara strengthened her understanding of laws of indices by tackling index notation questions and reviewed fundamental trigonometry concepts including sine, cosine, and tangent ratios.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8 Mathematics, one student's work on plotting coordinates was "a bit messy," making it harder to identify errors and slowing down corrections during lessons.

A Year 10 learner preparing for trigonometry assessments struggled to remember the SOH CAH TOA rule without written notes—she relied on prompts instead of independent recall.

Meanwhile, in a Year 6 session, confusion converting between square centimetres and square metres persisted; repeated mistakes were not always revisited, so misconceptions lingered into revision tasks.

During primary times tables review, incomplete daily practice meant non-calculator sections remained stressful rather than automatic.

Recent Achievements

A Leichhardt tutor noticed Makayla, a high school student, has started to independently identify which trigonometric ratio (sine, cosine, or tangent) to use—something she previously hesitated with unless prompted.

In another session, Hermione (Year 9) made a clear shift by slowing down and working more neatly after earlier lessons flagged her tendency for rushed errors; this time she completed all sums correctly without careless mistakes.

Meanwhile, Maya in Year 5 showed new persistence by tackling tricky multiplication problems on her own and only asking for hints when truly stuck, finishing an entire worksheet with minimal guidance.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Inner West Council Library and History Leichhardt Branch—or at your child's school (with permission), like Leichhardt Public School.
