Being able to encourage a student to be inquisitive and engage with the lesson. This makes them not only more willing to learn and interested, but also makes it easier for them to learn due to their increased focus and engagement. It's all about fostering the right environment. Being able to explain things in different ways. Not everyone learns…

An important thing of being a tutor is to support the student the best you can and working with them rather than having the student follow your style. I also think it's important to listen and to understand where they're struggling and to adapt my approach so learning feels achievable and positive. I think my strengths include patience, clear…

I believe the most important things a tutor can do for a student are to build their confidence, foster a supportive learning environment, and make challenging material accessible. A tutor should listen carefully to understand the student’s needs and struggles, then tailor their approach accordingly. It’s also crucial to encourage curiosity and…

I think a tutor not only needs to bring the student to understanding the content, but also inspire them to continue to go deeper into the content, by explaining how they can use the content they learned to understand the world better. As a tutor I am very enthusiastic and energetic which I use to keep the students engaged in the topic. I am also…

To be supportive and assist in their learning, and help them find the best way to study I think i'm very encouraging when I teach and I also do my best to help students find the answers themselves instead of just giving them answers consistently. I'm very patient with students and know that school is hard and they aren't going to know everything.…

I think a tutor's ability to empathise with the student is very important. Knowing where the student's confusion, questions and worries come from helps the tutor teach students better. I believe that my patience is my biggest strength, as teaching can take a lot of patience and having it allows for clear and calm communication. Another strength…

I think the most important thing a tutor should do is to understand how their student thinks and how they learn and to change the way they teach to cater for their learning style. For example, visually/verbally or abstract ideas/real life examples. I believe that it is also equally important to think from the student's level and to explain…

I believe good tutoring requires patience, and a mindset that solely consists of the aim to improve the students academic progress, whilst also considering their mental wellbeing. My main goal when tutoring is to go at a pace that suits the student, but also ensuring they are up to date with their class. In the case of confusing and difficult…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to grant them a new perspective. Any student can learn the content if given the textbook and enough time, however I think as a tutor it is important to give your student the skillset to approach a question from different angles. Helping both in academia, as well as later life. Explaining…

A tutor must be able to connect with the student on many different levels whilst in the mean time also convey the concepts and ideas of the curriculum. I also believe that the tutor has a subjective responsibility toward each student, to be able to tailor a style of teaching for them because no two students are, or learn alike. My main strength as…

I can describe myself as friendly, enthusiastic and respectful. As a teacher, we can easily get respect from the students if they would feel respected first. The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is be understanding. Knowing how to teach a topic does not do much if a student is unwilling to learn, being understanding allows for a closer connection between a tutor and student and makes learning significantly easier. I believe that my strengths are my compassion and patience. This then…

A tutor should be able to appropriately answer any questions students may have, even outside of class hours. They should also frequently praise students as a source of motivation and development of tutor-student relationships. This helps foster an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I believe my main…

One of the defining aspects of a tutor is to create a truely personalised learning for a student that take particular approaches to help better a student, not only in their academics, and in their improvement of grades, but to build confidence within themselves. Another significant element of tutoring is to teach to the student's strengths and…

The most important thing is to be patient and understanding of the student. EzyMath Tutoring has provided excellent Tutors for our two children. With their help our daughter was successful in getting into the University course she applied for. Our younger son is also making excellent progress with his Maths tutor, who has developed a great rapport with him. He now has a new found confidence to complete his work.

Inside Narre WarrenTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 Danielle focused on solving worded problems involving integers and time, and was introduced to algebra with worksheets targeting unknown variables.

Year 6 Patrick worked through two-by-two multiplication as well as addition and subtraction strategies, using step-by-step examples for clarity.

For Year 8 Moss, recent sessions included writing essays in TEEL format—one on how bees impact ecosystems—and practising correct punctuation by reading aloud and editing his own work.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8 mathematics, one student consistently omitted units and symbols in answers—she doesn't add her units or symbols which then ultimately makes the answer wrong—which led to confusion when marking multi-step problems.

A Year 10 student writing English essays relied heavily on copying research instead of using their own words, making it difficult to show true understanding and resulting in feedback about handwriting not rushing it so he can read his own writing.

In senior classes, incomplete homework was noted as a recurring issue; missed practice limited vocabulary growth and deeper analysis, especially when working with unfamiliar text types.

Recent Achievements

One Narre Warren tutor noted a big shift with Danielle, a high school student who now stops to ask clarifying questions whenever she's stuck on algebra word problems—instead of rushing through and missing key steps as she used to.

In another session, Patrick (also high school) was able to work out two-by-one multiplication almost independently after previously needing step-by-step guidance; he even recognised when he'd made an error and fixed it himself.

Meanwhile, a younger student recently started writing down unfamiliar words with translations during reading activities, something she hadn't done before, and finished her spelling test with only one mistake.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Bunjil Place Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Don Bosco School.
