Struggling academically while seeing others succeed can feel disheartening. It may seem as though "successful students" have it easy, as if solutions just pop into their head. Seeing the cycle of success cycling round and round for others can seem like natural talent. Geniuses do exist but most successful students are just normal people who have somehow learned how to succeed academically. Good news! Success leaves clues. These students tend to be prepared, to do their homework & regular revision....

Good news! Success leaves clues. These students tend to be prepared, to do their homework & regular revision. They focus on comprehension not on memorization. Most importantly they have growth mindset not a fixed mindset - failures are an opportunity for growth not proof of inadequacy.

The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Max's note taking ability has greatly improved and as such will be of much greater use when under stress during testing time. He takes regular and concise notes which show myself and any one else his dedication to improving his math related work. Max's neatness has also improved, which is a positive sign, as it is much easier to track his ideas, where he is and areas he may be struggling in.
At first Una was understandably somewhat shy and reserved, however see seems to have come out of her shell which is good to see. In the most recent session she was a bit unfocused but that does happen from time to time and I will try to keep her more on track in the future. I'm pleased to say Una tries her best in each session and almost always gives the questions I ask her a go. Una seems to be completing her work quite well and I think you're instilling some very good work habits into her.
His habit of starting a question over again is a problem but is simply resolved with us practising writing down each one of our steps His reading skills is a problem area as it seem to have slipped since last term I encourage him to read more broadly not just comics.

Stuart had his first session with Paige yesterday and she felt very comfortable with him. All looks good so far.
Daman was tutoring me in math to help me pass an army test and i ended up passing my test last week. He has helped me improve in math which I've been struggling with when growing up and as I will now be teaching myself improve more and more in math using his method as I believe it really helped me. I wouldn't have passed the test without him so hats off to this bloke.
Jason has been to our home 3 times now and we could not be more pleased. He is a very polite respectful young guy. More importantly Matthew really likes him and says is he is really helping him. Jason said today that he could see improvement. More than happy to continue.
