How to approach problems and provide necessary solutions in a systematic manner. I've taught in a college for more than three years. One best things I could perform was teaching complex concepts in a much easier manner. It is essential to understand the retention capacity of a student and make a pedagogy accordingly.…

The most important thing a tutor can do for their student is ensure the student understands the content, and doesn't just get the marks if they don't understand the content properly. They also need to be someone who the student can feel comfortable talking to and asking questions, regardless of how 'silly' the question may seem. Good communication…

I think the most important thing for a tutor is to understand what the student needs and work through those blocks with positive reinforcement. Some students have a hard time understanding concepts while others have no faith in themselves and struggle to retain information. The most important thing a tutor can do for their students is to foster a love for learning. When a tutor instills a genuine curiosity and passion for acquiring knowledge, it becomes a lifelong gift that goes beyond specific subjects or exams. By nurturing this love for learning, tutors empower their students to become self-motivated, independent…

Not only can tutors help build up a students' confidence in areas they are particularly weak in, but they can also give insight into what is to come in further years of school and how to prepare for such content. I believe that a tutor must be able to provide the students with what they need. This means assessing the student's abilities and determining key weaknesses. Since not all students are the same, a successful tutor must be able to decide strategies that are suited for each individual student. I am adaptable and resourceful, so I can adjust myself…

In my opinion, the best thing a tutor can do for a student is to acknowledge the students intelligence. Einstein said it best himself "Everyone is a genius. HAMID VLOGS, Pemulwuy

Inside PemulwuyTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Aryan worked on addition using number lines and practised multiplication questions to build fluency.

In Year 10, Patrick focused on discrete probability concepts from his yearly exam, including expected value and variance, and also reviewed applications of trigonometry in two dimensions such as angles of elevation and depression.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Ali completed HSC-level revision under timed conditions with an emphasis on differentiation techniques and integrating exponential functions.

Recent Challenges

In Year 4, one student hesitated to show working for double-digit multiplication and needed reminders to recall each step without relying on previous solutions.

"He often began from the right but lost track of the next steps," a tutor noted, which led to confusion midway.

In Year 11 Maths, another student became overly dependent on formula sheets rather than interpreting what a probability or integration question truly required; this habit left her stumped by unfamiliar wording during practice exams.

When faced with multi-step algebra in Year 9, skipping written working hid key errors—making it hard to spot where she went wrong.

Recent Achievements

A Pemulwuy tutor recently noticed a Year 12 student coming to each session with specific questions prepared, a big shift from last term when he'd wait passively for guidance—he even completed two years' worth of HSC papers independently and pinpointed his weak spots himself.

In Year 10, another student who previously hesitated to speak up now regularly asks for clarification as soon as something doesn't make sense, sometimes even requesting alternative solutions.

Meanwhile, a younger student in primary school started drawing dot arrays to tackle multiplication problems—something he avoided before—and now finishes simple times tables with little help.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Greystanes Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Ebenezer Christian College.
