As a tutor remaining persistence and professional are two important qualities that I bring to any student I teach. Any student can learn and understand their true potential, this comes through clarity and how you explain things in a way that makes in easy to understand since all students learn in a different way. And I take this approach to ensure…

What I think is the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to allow them to build confidence through their academic results through perseverance and hard work. Not only does this reflect in school, but this confidence in themselves is built through discipline aided by tutors translates to other facets of life, shaping their character…

The most important thing a tutor can do is support their student and give them the patience and understanding that learning is a difficult process and can take a long time. It is crucial to respect students and never put them down for their ability as everyone has the potential to learn many things at their own pace and in their own ways. I have a…

To me, a tutor is someone that can not only prepare a student in the classroom but to prepare them for life. Learning skills allow for the child to develop their own interests and pursue them further beyond the idea of exams and tests. I hope that my valuable skills allow for students to become high achievers, both in the academic situation and…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student is to cater to their needs. Not all children work at the same pace or understand concepts the same way. It is essential to understand their needs and facilitate to them; so they feel comfortable in engaging in learning which might seem challenging for them. My strengths as a tutor are…

I think adapting to students learning style is vital to allow for the most growth in their education. Tutors are exceptionally valuable as the one on one or small class dynamics allow for the specific needs of a student to be catered for, giving their learning attention in a way that can be difficult to access within the schooling system alone.…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to provide guidance that goes beyond the subject content. That means helping students develop good study habits, organisation, and confidence in their own ability to improve. Genuinely understanding the students need and tailoring the best approach of teaching accordingly is the best thing a tutor can do. No students are same and have same level of intelligence and this should be considered by the teacher. The most important thing a tutor can do is make the student passionate about their subject. If the student isn't motivated to learn, no amount of lecturing or assignments will help them. There are so many small things about each subject that are super interesting to learn about, but without the right tutor some students miss out. As a young tutor…

Help them achieve their goals. It isn't about getting the highest marks, it's about improving and feeling good about going into tests and exams and feeling confident you know the material. The most important thing a tutor can do is to practice empathy in order to ensure the student knows they're in a safe environment where they are allowed to make mistakes and learn from them. Being kind and really listening to what they say to you is also essential, as you don't want them to feel like they can't talk to you, as this will result in…

Inside RevesbyTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Nicholas worked through factorisation techniques, including perfect squares and difference of two squares, and also practised simplifying algebraic fractions using his homework as a base.

For Year 9, Amy focused on indices—specifically zero and negative indices—and tackled more complex index problems by reversing steps to find missing values.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Lily concentrated on financial mathematics, calculating simple and compound interest scenarios and comparing investment options to strengthen her understanding of real-world money management.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student often avoided writing out full solutions in algebra, preferring to "do it in my head," which led to missed sign errors and made it harder to check where mistakes happened.

In a recent Year 11 session, a tutor noted, "she rarely attempted past paper questions at home," meaning unfamiliar question types still caused stress under exam timing.

A Year 4 learner left many fraction problems unfinished because she felt unsure about the steps and didn't refer back to her notes as suggested.

When feedback was offered on trigonometry (Year 10), not all corrections were applied before moving on, so similar misunderstandings reappeared next week.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Revesby noticed a big shift with one high school student who used to stay quiet when confused—now, he actively asks questions and even talks through problems aloud to clarify his thinking.

Another older student made real headway in identifying her own mistakes while solving equations; she was able to spot errors before the tutor stepped in, which hadn't happened previously.

For a younger student, consistent practice with times tables paid off: she's now recalling them quickly without prompts and volunteered to try extra multiplication challenges at the end of her session.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Padstow Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like St Luke's Catholic Primary School.
