I believe the most important thing a biology tutor can do for their student is understand the nuances of learning capabilities and teach them in a manner that is both convenient and accessible to their minds. Different students have different styles of learning that cater to their needs best, that is why it is of utmost importance for a tutor…

I think that the most important thing a biology tutor can do for their student is to understand their lifestyle and work according to that so that there is minimal pressure and more learning for them. In order to do that, it’s better to get to know the child and adjust according to what they prefer and how they want to be treated and/or taught.…

In my view , the best thing a biology tutor can do for a student is to motivate them and help them in gaining an inbuilt confidence in those subjects in which he is weak. In my perception, at first students should start to love their subject , then automatically they start to score well in that. I think I can deal with students according to their…

A tutor should be able to help clear each and every notion that the student has about a certain topic. They should not get tired of explaining concepts on repeat. A good tutor should always be consistent and take note of what their student does. They should regularly follow up on lesson plans and make sure that the student is not burdened by any…

1. A tutor must be interactive and must be collaborative. 2. Tutor should know the subject matter thoroughly and in detail and should be ready to clear any sort of confusions. 3. The learning process should not be forced rather eased with dynamic teaching strategies. 4. It is vital to keep track of every students to identify significant…

The most important thing for a biology tutor is to adapt their teaching style according to each student as the same method will not work for everyone. This will ensure that each student can understand and feel confident. Some of my strengths include being patient and communicative with the students and also their parents. I believe it is important…

The most important thing a biology tutor can do for a student is to believe in their potential for academic success. Without this belief, teaching loses its purpose; with it, a tutor can inspire and empower students to achieve their goals. Additionally, building strong connections with students through active engagement is crucial, as these…

The most important thing a biology tutor can do for a student would be to bring confidence into them. I've learnt though school that it's not the level of intelligence of a student that matters, but their attitude towards the goals. Altering the ‘I can’t do this’ attitude by breaking down the hard topics would enable me to prepare them for…

The most important things a biology tutor can do for a student are to clarify difficult concepts, build the student’s confidence, and foster independent learning. A good tutor doesn’t just help with content but equips the student with strategies to think critically, stay motivated, and become self-reliant in their studies. Creating a…

I believe tutors have the biggest impact on how a student approaches a subject. Speaking from personal experience, I don't think I would've liked studying the subjects I had in year 10, 11 and 12 if I hadn't had good teachers who knew how to make the subjects interesting to learn. A tutor is capable of making studying feel less burdensome and I…

I believe that all providers of education should not only prepare a student for an exam, but to open the student's eyes to the wider world, where they can explore their passions. In this way, I consider confidence an important aspect that a tutor can provide to a student. School can sometimes feel so impossible, when sitting in a large classroom…

Inside RuseTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Oliver worked through algebraic equations, focusing on simplifying and expanding expressions, and revisited past exam questions to strengthen his understanding of minus signs in equations.

For Year 8, the session with John covered perimeter calculations for composite shapes and involved estimating and converting between different measurement units like meters and centimeters.

Meanwhile, a Year 6 lesson with Emily focused on mastering long division alongside developing confidence with decimal place value using targeted practice exercises.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student repeatedly relied on mental maths in algebra and fractions, skipping written working—this led to errors with negatives and simplification. As a tutor noted, "she needs to show working out during questions to reduce silly mistakes."

In Year 7, one student left homework incomplete and rarely reviewed feedback; missed practice meant concepts like long division never quite stuck.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner hesitated to write answers for fear of getting them wrong, erasing attempts instead of using feedback—so progress slowed when new spelling or times tables appeared. A single missed step often turned into lost marks or confidence.

Recent Achievements

One Ruse tutor noticed a big change in Oliver, a high schooler who used to hesitate with algebra—he now works through equation problems without pausing and even picked out his own exam mistakes before the tutor stepped in.

In another session, Misheel, also in high school, flagged tricky homework questions on her own instead of skipping them and completed almost everything else accurately.

A Year 4 student who once struggled to follow text now reads entire book chapters aloud with only a few missed words and placed fractions correctly on number lines by himself.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Campbelltown City Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Ruse Public School.
