Chemistry is just one of those subjects, it either clicks or it doesn't. Many students find maths and physics easy, but when it comes to chemistry they just feel lost.
And it's understandable. It can be challenging to connect the concepts to real-life, see how it all relates to their day-to-day. When they're struggling, students tend to give up easily and at some point, they stop trying altogether.
If your child doesn't catch on right away, or maybe they consider chemistry a complete waste of time, it can be hard to convince them otherwise. What we've found is that students react better when it comes from someone who they can relate to.
They react to mentors, someone closer to their age, who shares the same experience. That's why tutors are in a unique position to help a student grow.
That's why great tutoring can make such a big difference.

The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
The key learning strategies I'm trying to instil in Tanner are to do with avoiding rule dependence and lazy thinking, and using memory pegs and triggers. I'm also continuing to encourage him to show all his working so he can easily double-check and get as many part marks as possible in an exam situation. His topic this term is data and probability, and some of the memory hints I've come up with have been helpful (he has been using them which is great to see)!
No issues. No issues. There are 2 areas for improvement. 1 , When doing homework, he should check the answers after finishing every question. If he doesn't, he could be getting everything wrong without realising. It's happened to me in the past. 2 , Revising in his own time. Even if this means spending only 10 , 15 minutes a day doing a few questions. This will help retain info over the long-term. The same concept could be used for other subjects too.
Occasionally, Ethan loses his way when he attempts to solve problems related to linear equations (e.g. "Find the equation of the line that is parallel to this line.."). As mentioned previously, Ethan sometimes struggles to solve problems which incorporate multiple steps and cover multiple topics. Quite often, it is difficult to see how one should proceed UNLESS a logical though process is applied. I will emphasise thinking through a problem logically in future sessions.

I just wanted to express my thanks to you and my son's tutor Sam. With his assistance Grady improved his maths results from virtually failing the subject to achieving a very respectable B + for his end of year 11 final grade. Sam was personable and patient, encouraging and motivating. Even though my son has decided not to continue studying maths in year 12 , I am delighted with the results he was able to achieve ,and the confidence and self- belief he attained. Please pass these comments on to Sam. Again, thank you so much.
All good so far, both Will and I are very happy with Ben. He is good value. Highly recommend him.
Our tutor is Anthony. We have found his interaction with our son Benn has proven very rewarding. Benn has taken to Anthony and sees him as a mentor as well as a tutor. He has only praise and admiration for Anthony. At our discussions with Benn after each tutorial Benn has a renewed interest and passion for Math. Anthony and Benn seem to have similar interests in physics and sciences which I think helps. He is also providing and encouraging Benn with his confidence not just in math but in all things. I would like to offer our satisfaction and praise in Anthony's professionalism and he is a testimonial to your business
