What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

The sense of accomplishment after helping students to improve their results and achieve their academic goals is what makes me enjoy tutoring the most. As an immigrant who has moved from a non-English speaking country (Hong Kong) to Australia when I was 14 years old, the first few years were very tough for me due to the language barrier. However, I have been trying my best, and gradually my English has been improved a lot. This experience makes me understand how bad it feels to struggle and so it makes me more satisfied and accomplished after helping people who also need help in their study.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

First of all, I am trilingual. I am proficient in English, Mandarin and Cantonese. This means that I can tutor and explain concepts in a different language, if the student prefers a different language other than English, especially for the students whose first language is not English. Second, I have good attention to details. This means that I am capable of identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the students, and thus design a tailored tutoring experience for each student.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

First, I think it is very important for a tutor to monitor the progress of the student and try to tailor the lesson and provide additional help to the student, in order to address their weaknesses. This is the most efficient and beneficial way of tutoring, as it can keep the student on the right track, without falling behind significantly. Additionally, patience and encouragement are very important too. Each student has their different strengths, weaknesses and pace of learning. Therefore, it is very important for tutor to be patient and try to encourage students when they are struggling.
